  1. Looks like that could have been a "legs under" car too. I love that low cowl look.

  2. You are correct. The Sour Sisters car's fin was more round, and a bit shorter.

    The old Tucson Dragway..

In 1985 just before Winternationals..the strip was busted for it's other use..
Landing the big loads of weed ! Winternationals were allowed to go on..then the strip was closed down forever...

Got to see Don Toia's Willy's at one of the So-Cal BB/GS shows. It was a rare treat since he rarely ventured here. Never got to see his blown Maverick that followed

was their in 1966 a lot, one time we could not race becouse the ambulance was very late. The record player was so bad sometimes the national anthem would not play all the way threw.
But they gave every car a throphy in their ahra class even if it was a solo. Had a lot of fun watching low 12 sec cars. J & m speed shop etc.

I'm new to this site and its great to see there are so many others who share my passion for these hot rods. I don't have any pics but do have a link about a local favorite. The car was recently found in Fla. If anyone has any pics of the "VIRGINIA GENTLEMEN" Corvette , please post them. Lets keep this thread rolling. Thanks...

  18. Richard is alive and well, and has a speed shop in El Monte called "Service Center". He still NHRA races when ever the circus comes to town. Richard is good people. A real racer, and all around nice guy.

SS/QA , that must have been back in 74 or so. In 75 or 6 the car would have been classed as a SS/RA .

    Good Ole 220 hp 283s. :)

After all these years I still have my 283 (O/Stock) with a new Cam Dynamics 7000 plus shaft in it.
