So back to my place which is good because me and Dave still have loads to do. Again I want to thank Rob and his crew at Custom Concepts in Fresno for one of the most beautiful paint jobs I have been involved with. A personal thanks to Neil Averill for being involved with the artwork again because without him it just would not be the same.

I can't thank Mike Guffey enough for going out of his way and finding the exact tires that Fred ran back is '67. As if he didn't have enough to do with all of his projects. Thanks, pal! You made my whole month!
I swear, Mark and I are in awe every day as the critical items needed just seem to magically appear on the UPS truck. Thanks to everyone out there looking for all the little pieces that have added up to this wonderful piece of history. And Todd, thank you for the Blue Line crayon, Mark practiced on my ranch truck and it looks perfect!

Jeez Louise - that thangs 'kin awesome!

  23. Not a problem ... it's the very least I could do to help you guys restore a piece of Drag Racing History ... the car is simply looking more & more awesome each & every day ... a real testament to the talents of the Teixeira Willys restoration team!

Now, don't let Skip "practice" too much more ... it would really suck to run out of crayon half-way through the striping on the second tire! :D

Yes sir and what is cool I have never been involved in a project of this scale. The emotions are like I am helping Dave build it for Fred and restore the car to get back to it's beauty, Tex was a hard hitter and deserves the best.

  27. As much as I'd like to see it run . . . I'll have to settle for some shows and maybe "easy pass" exhibitions :D (at least I hope so). Will Fred be bringing it to the Gasser Nationals at Thompson? My wife is an official "Gasser Girl" - I'd love her to see it.

So be honest now... was the car ever that good 'back in the day'? :)

I don't think it was built this nice but the car was known for the stunning paint jobs.
