James... you have got me thinking! I want to build something thats different than anything i've seen around, Something thats would look close to stock but make a person do a double take, that's why I've been looking at shortening stuff. Your image really inspired me to rethink things a little.
I rather like that. What about a sloper? You´d need two door doors or you´d have to stretch them. Lots of work for sure. Cheaper buy in though.
I just bought a 38 four door. Complete, and running. Because of you James and the idea you gave me! looks like I'll be busy this winter! I'll post the picture of the car as soon as it get here!
Photochop of X38's Sloper 39 done by Rikster. Felt it was only right to include in with the mention of slopers and the moredoor/sedan concept. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=449&pictureid=6283 A beautiful piece of kit and a great build to follow to boot! Andy
I have no idea if this counts as a PhotoChop but this is SUPER BAD ASS!!! If you wouldn't mind I would love to keep a copy of this as inspiration, it is almost exactly what has been rolling around in my head to do with a bunch of old Panhead and triumph parts that I have laying around. Jaysin
Other people's dreams... I took this... And made this... quick rough photoshop just to give an idea Then took this.... And ended up here... And this is how it looks after a crew of very talented craftsman worked on it. A nice mild customized Hudson... Made a little less mild... Hamb challenge... but it could be my dream...
I like that sedan delivery/panel concept, although the curve in the trim doesn't look right. Thanks, Kurt
Here is a photochopped picture I've been keeping secret the last..... 5 years Back in my younger days when I rode a '55 Cadillac Coupe Deville as my summer daily driver, I wanted a Cadillac themed Chevrolet panel as a winter daily driver. I found out that the GMC with its grille would be the perfect panel to start with! But as time flies, I realize that this truck wouldn't be in my garage in the next couple of years either... so what the heck... here it is: The original picture: The ultimate Kustomra'mag Shop Truck:
The threads are a bit old, but no doubt what you're looking for. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=133461&highlight=x38+sloper http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=181956&highlight=x38+sloper Tony/X38's personal gallery is also worth a look and I know I'm hoping for another update soon. But he seems to be quite busy building cars for others. Funny thing is I saw James D's Zephyr photoshop for the first time in one of those threads. I have an idea on how you can make an american style 38 sloper, but that would require lengthening or tudor doors (since they are longer from the factory). I'll post the photoshop as soon as I get it done, but I'm thinking c-pillar window frame moved forward, pie cuts on the window and roof frame and then straight pillars with the longer doors. Little easier to see with a picture. But don't hold your breath (Very much like what James D did, I just realised. But I'll give it a go in my own flavour.) -Rikster Great of you to chip in, you've done some great work photoshopping and I can't wait to see more. -Andy
Jackshaft, thanks for the links. I spent a few hours last night on the phone with the owner of the car I'm buying. He's a 70 year old gentleman in the heart of big city who just took it off the road 5 years ago. It seems he found the mechanical brakes to hard to put on and switched to juice an that gave him a few more years of driving. The car has sat since then and some local retard put bricks through the front and back windows and someone ripped off some of the flatty parts ( carb it sounds like along with generator). Its complete (less above mentioned) with additional parts he gathered includign 3 grills, more bumbers and 3 fenders. I'm going down to see him on Friday with cash in hand. I'm looking towards making a slope roof and keeping the short doors to give it the sedan delivery look. I'm pumped!
God I hope this dream never gets realized. I like the Bug idea though, it'd be something really cool if done tastefully. On the other hand, I do hope this dream does come true
HEY bobj49f2....... NOW you are just showing off with that post! BUT I love it , very nice work with photoshop, wish I had the skill and time to work with that program and learn all their is to it.............. Someday...
digging around, I just found a picture of a real 39 sedan delivery and a 39 moredoor... The real one looks like its got a 4 door door stock! I didnt touch the original, just added the mock up below.
-Lono The pictures are looking real great. A project worth following (we want pictures when you get it!). I just can't seem to see if they have a slanted B-pillar or a straight B-pillar. I'm leaning towards keeping it straight, but the slanted roof with the chopped windshield gives it a brilliant streamlined look. Since the design is pretty much locked down and my editing skills are limited I'll see if I can get some of my own bench racers done. -Andy
Here is what I'm looking at, pic of the 53 now some different chopping options. Though, the chop won't be quite this aggressive. I'm hoping to do this this winter Leaning toward this one other looks
I am thinking sloping the B pillar, but I need the car nfront of me to look at it. The real sedan was straight up so.... I might slant.
