check 'our' history, we've been at war in one form or another since we've been founded, it's what we do, apparently [with an occasional break from things]

    Arial photography?
You need a big tarp with a swimming pool painted on it. Hell, it worked for cheech and chong.

Sorry. again with the misplaced moment of levity.

  3. I highly doubt it. I think the point of these laws is to:
    A. Try to keep property values from going down
    B. Try to generate revenue

If your neighbor was into refrigerators, would you be okay with a bunch of them all over his property where you could easily see them?

I find that extremely hard to believe.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

Dude! You aint ranting !! You are just exposing the fact that this may be the home of the brave but it aint THE LAND OF THE FREE!!!
Here is a true story of how I handled a similar situation 35 yrs.ago, only this battle was with a neighbor, the township would only act on a complaint.
I am an auto mechanic and I had a house built in a white collar neighborhood. I have a model A hot rod in the driveway along with a 426 Hemi Road Runner ( wish I kept it! ) that I pulled the hemi out of to use in my top fuel dragster at the time. The RR is sitting high in the front with no engine. My neighbor comes over to bitch that he is going to call the Twp. to make me remove the cars. The ordinance requires Registration and inspection stickers. My answer to him was " Please do call them, and I will register and inspect the cars, and they will still be sitting there. AND do you see my 63 Cadilliac over there that is already tagged and inspected, I will paint it 13 different ugly colors and park it on the street for you to look at everyday. So I advise you to get the fuck off my property and go make your call". He never called and moved away 6 months later. I sold that house to my son Kenny (G Bones 32 Coupe) There are pictures on his site of the house then and now and pics of the AA/FD in the back yard. That Model A is still there, it's still the same ole hot rod and Kenny drives it all the time, it's now his. Kenny wasn't even born when that neighbor lived there in the Land of the free!!!!! maybe the cats doing the calling-in are running a meth lab and are trying to keep the heat off themselves. to think of it, i do see people coming and going at all hours of the night, and odd odors from their place. see their teeth? TWEAKERS!
and i don't think the ACLU would lift one pinky finger to defend the great Satan Automobile or it's enthusiasts. we're all Neanderthal stepchildren in their eyes.
i guess we're lucky in Chucktown to have a high murder rate...(it keeps the Police busy with REAL crime).

it's happening all over the place the cops get leeway to interpret the laws the way they want, then you have to prove you are right.
it's completly ass backwards of what it is supposed to be

  8. Well, I wouldn't care, if I didn't want to look at it, I'd put up a fence. I don't want my property value to rise, because then they hit me for more in taxes at the end of the year. I don't care if I sell it and I get $10,000 or $20,000 less because the less I get the less I have to pay the government out of it as income. While I own my property, if it in fact belongs to me, I want the right to do with it and on it what I please. So long as I'm not running a meth lab, a whorehouse, growing pot, or some other illegal activity, what difference does it make? Better me with a few cars than some illegal alien defaulting on a mortgage he never should have been able to get in the first place and arranging to burn the place down for insurance or something.

  9. I'm not going to believe your story until I see proof. Maybe that's what your buddy told you when he got busted for something else.

  10. Since you upped the ante, how about an old white guy that is the landlord and rents the place to 48 "illegal aliens" that park every foreign POS car they drive on the property, and they play hockey in the backyard every other night, banging the puck against your fence? On the other nights, they repair lawn equipment. The landlord does offer for the damn "illegal aliens" to do your yardwork for free in exchange for the nuisance.

    :D

  11. Still missing the point!!!!!!!! I don't care with how many counties or terrorist groups or how long America has been at war or with who. That is not what I'm saying here and I most definatley wouldn't harp on about it on the HAMB.

My point is that America is promoted around the world as the home of the free... The keeper of civil liberties yet it's own citizens don't even have the write to park an unregistered car (or sometimes even registered )in their own front yard or back yard in some cases with out the risk of having it forcibly removed.

Which in my view is an encroachment on my/your write to pursue a meaningfull passtime. A hobby which this message board is now a major part of for thousands of people.

A hobby that also is a creator employment directly or indirectly thru things like tourism etc etc. But don't worry the powers that be over here are on the same program as yours, just a little slower and a little less organised. Now back to the hot rods please.

Too late. In blissfield Mi. they passed an ordinance that you could not park a commercial vehicle in a residential zoned area. An antique fire truck, parked inside a garage, was declared illegal, and the owner fined daily until it was moved.

But, you are generalizing about our great country. 98% of the time this sorta thing is not an issue. Most of us do not live in gated communities with Chip and Buffy. In threads like this you are hearing a selection of similar stories from a large timeframe.

I argue that most of these issues would never become an issue if folks took the time to slow down, meet their neighbors and maybe sit on the porch an evening or two.................Society on this big rock (at least in the developed countries) has come to the point that running around in a true rat race is now more true than ever before.

I admit I dont know all my neighbors out here......our large acreages do not lend themselves to strolling up to a house real easy. I have seen first hand how one jackass that thinks he runs the developement (I call him the Mayor of Smallville) can influence the opinions of folks around him w/o basis (found out he is a boyfriend of the actual prop owner with no real say;)) As folks in our new little community get to know each other, things are starting to turn around towards common sense. It is funny how interactions work when people actually talk.

    You got me.

Good point Tman. Yes I know that I'm generalizing, you guys over their have alot of freedoms that we don't have here. But in saying that the taking of freedoms away is a slow process, a little bit at time, Today it is about keeping so called junked cars, tomorrow who knows.

I also don't really talk with my neighbors. But I sure don't stick my nose in their business either, but if I see that they are in need of a hand I'll help if I can. That includes the Muslim Mosque that lives next door to me.
Most of which are good people but just don't know how to park their cars in an orderly manner.

Most people don't give a fuck about other people until they have to talk with them face to face. It is only then that people realise that their fellow neighbors, towns people or countrymen are real people to with real problems.

Anyone here know how to research laws? The US Supreme court did rule on zoning more than 20 years ago,Their ruling was zoning is unconstititional !This was front page news when it took place, I had a copy of the paper I saved for years but lost it in a move and I don't know how to find another. Also there is a law that states you are entitled reasonable privacy and I can't quote this one but a friend of mine found it when his new neighbors tried to shut down his grandfathered repair shop and junkyard.it states you are entitled to privacy above AND below your property. It was origionaly written to protect you from someone owning land next to yours and mining under your property lets just say for gold.If you have a fence and they climb a tree to get pictures of your activities that is a violation of your privacy rights .this is exactly what was done to my friend. The ultimate justice here was my friend beat the neighbor who was a lawyer in court now this second law MIGHT be a Mass.law I'm not sure but the second incident took place in Webster Mass.

put a frog in boiling hot water he jumps out, put him in cold water and turn up the heat slowly, and he boils to death.
there are crazy laws everywhere now about cars, they were taking peoples cars from them in california for supposedly street racing, then crushing them because they may not be able to prove where every single part came from.
I saw several interviews with young people who had bought parts from junkyards, even those with receipts, and their cars were taken and crushed because they couldn't trace every part. you may say,yea these are kids with rice mobiles, but the point isn't what kind of cars they are,it's the fact that the govenrment is making laws every day that can be used to take away your cars too. What right does someone have to take overhead pictures of your yard and cars, then say you are in violation of some code, even though they are inside of your fence, and not visible to normal people. How can they lower someones property value, when no one knows they are there? This shit is starting to remind me of Soviet union type bullshit. What next? they take an overhead picture of your yard and fine you for having un matched lawn chairs? where does it end? They tried to pass zoning here, and it failed, so I have an old toilet in my front yard now, with flowers planted in it. and i'm only 2 blocks from downtown. All the frogs better wake up and realize the goverment in this country already has them in the pot and is turning up the heat.

  17. Wait, inside a garage? That should have been a lawsuit. What's in my garage is no one else's business. Also should have been a coat of paint on the inside of all the windows and no trespassing signs all over the garage. How does anyone with a pickup truck park it in his own driveway for the night? How does anyone have an appliance delivered or a plumber or someone come to fix their pipes if the guy can't park? If I lived there I'd report all that stuff and insist they either enforce it or do away with the law.

They tried to pull that with me here, the zoning guy outright lied to me saying no commercial vehicles were allowed in a residential area. But the dumbass apparently didn't know all the town codes are online, and what the law actually says is commercial vehicles over 7500 lbs can't be parked in a residential neighborhood. When I called his bluff I never heard back from him on it.
