Ray Wetzelburger (sp ? ) I saw him run it in 1974 and I'm sure again in 75. I think in 76 he moved on to a BB 70 or 71 Chevelle bracket car.

It a pic from Dragway Park, Cayuga.

  11. Is that the 70 restored to stock that was at the York reunion? The white one that won the "Paul Mayo" Olds award?

I didn't get to York this year. The pic was from the 1976 Grandnational Molson held at Sanair Dragway. Paul was RU in Stock that year. I read the "Mayo Car" was to be at York but I didn't know it was back to factory stock .

Speaking of Jim and Allison Lee...here's Allison and the "Great Expectations II". I took this at Indy in 1971. Jim and Allison were two of the nicest folks I ever met at the races. I hope they are both well. Mike

I was lucky enough to get to meet Lew Arrington who drove the Brutus cars (as did Jungle Jim for a while). He passed away earlier this year but I will always have fond memories of him hanging out at the shop while his son and I mounted a body for Jerry Toliver at the start of the WWF program.
His son has been the "diver" on John Force's car for the last 10 years or thereabouts, so I see him on a regular basis as I work at JFR too.

Nice shot. I really enjoyed the the top gas class. It was a damn shame that the NHRA eridicated the class after 1971. The reason wasnt for lack of interest, but they wanted the sport to become more TV friendly. The similarity between the fuel burners and gas burners was too confusing for the average stick and ball sports fan. So, out they went relagating them to comp eliminator. How sad! Oh, dig the avatar of the driver donning the early style face mask....very cool, very much a signature of the early 60's.

Bob W its great to see the Asphalt Angel 55 Chevy. Did you know the car or the owner Billy Christian? Looks like the old Dallas strip. The car had a VW torsin bar type front axle.
