Working my but off. Back brake's done wainting to pick up the drums tomarrow front end already to go greased in all .i bent all the rear brake lines from the old ones for mock up for the new ones. Thought they would go right into place but nooo the shock mounts on the backing plates hamperd that so they got a reroute. Laying outthe plans for the wiring tonite . Keep you guy's posted. Billy ... Sorry didn't know the rear end was so dusty.
Looks real GOOD Billy! Man, I bet you can taste it now. Always good to see your progress/updates. Ken
Your emergency brake set-up is fitted wrong. I know because I fitted mine the same way and couldn't work out why it kept falling apart inside the drum! The vertical arm needs to have the stud on the inside so the horizontal bar connects up to it on the backside rather than the front. You may need to swap the components left to right to get it like that.
klaz/billy, see how in klaz's pics the horizontal arm is behind the vertical one.... thats the difference with the horizontal arm on the outside it is not sandwiched to the brake shoe and can pop out of place also looks as though the vetical arm may be behind the shoe clip on billy's?
the spring is correct, the "cup" in the horizontal arm is for spring clearance i believe your vertical arms are just flopped to opposite sides of the car i think everything else is correct
klaz's pics are correct.... click them till they're big then get some pics of that car on the wheels...outside!
Here's a parts catalog pic online at Mac's site: http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/FH_images/FH_brakes-pics/Flathead_Brakes_46-48car.jpg Somewhat confusingly, the front of both assemblies is at right.
man this going to drive me nuts. i followed klaz pics his long shoe is in back and short up front.now i have to take it apart for the third time.what happens if the small shoe is up front?
Sorry Hellmet .. I focused on the emergency brake set-up , I prolly should have mentioned that the brake-shoes was set wrong . Sorry about that long shoe to front. big end of cyl to front I bought A 59AB &the complete setup from a`48 Ford , And took those pix just after pulling the drums ..( Clik 3 times on those pix , and they will FILL your puter-screen .)
