Nice day for a scooter ride, so I went. 500 miles round trip. I've got to agree with most, Was for the most part a few really nice cars and a few serious piles of dung. The rest were somewhere in between daily drivers and weekend cruisers. ... Nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there

It must be one of those local competitions to see who can build the 'wackiest' ride. I don't understand the vision in the creation of most of those cars.

#15, Throttle cable made out of an old coat hanger.
#16, Seat made out of a milk crate covered with a mexican blanket.
    #17, Spray-painted maltese crosses
#18, no welding required... We got duck-tape!

  8. MWS, Great pics, and I am one who loves that look. In the old days we built chopper motorcycles and people had the same questions. We always said "if we need to explain, you wouldn't understand". I like "Street Rods" and I like "Hot Rods" (traditional) but a safely built "Ratrod" is what I love! I think you guys are doing a great job up there (plenty of winter build time huh?) Ya'll havin' fun, that is what it's all about. If there was a rule book all Hot Rods would have interchangable parts Eh?

Why force it into this website? There's probably a site for that stuff elsewhere, right?

  10. Don't think anything was forced onto the web site! Like all forums, I believe the Administrator or Moderator could deleat the thread if they found or deemed it innapropriate.

Looks like a fun time. Not everything shown was my taste, but that's rodding for you. I don't have to like somebody's car to respect his opinion on what looks good. To me, that's the beauty of rodding.

I have been away form posting for sometime now, just sitting back and watching the bashing.

I came across the state with about 9 cars from the rapid area. The group had mild to wild, one is the pickup with green wheels. What a fantastic bunch of guys.

I also joined the Counts of the CobbleStone car club in Rapid City this year, another fantastic bunch of car loving people. I asked the other car club in town The bagashits car club (Vagabonds), there response was (that is a piece of shit and NO we take pride in our cars). Well I have seen some of there cars and there isnt any room for them to be talking..

My biggest complaint about this sight is some of the people will trash a car that they dont like, but turn around and defend there buddies car which is the very thing they hate. I just dont get it.

I will agree with afew of the people there was some wild and scary stuff there too.

There was also a comment about our youth building these types of cars. I say let them, At least they are building cars no matter what they are, they are building them themselves. Not going out and putting a wing on a Honda and thinking they built something worth-a-shit.

    Let the hate mail flow

    Thanks

  20. kiotes, if you really take the time to look, you'll see that us Old Farts are very consistant in our taste. We pine for the old days, and we remember what it was like. I hate to say it, but I guess I will welcome the heat from the Fuzz (old term) put on my cars if it brings heat to the ricketty contraptions posted in this show thread.

Just be aware, if you're driving a clown car, don't be offended if people laugh at you. Might want to learn to make animals out of balloons or something. Just sayin'...

  21. Some outrageous builds - Very cool rides. Thanks for the post.

I didn't realize there was a difference. I better pay closer attention :D

  23. I'd like those cars more if when they arrive 20 or 30 clowns would get out with buckets of confetti and fire extinguishers.

The B/W touch is good. Some of the car's are really neat. I will not hammer the one's that are not. thank's for the coverage for those of us who can not be there in person!

  27. Perfect explanation for anyone who is even a bit interested in traditional hot rods and customs. That was a great show.
