Looking for other HAMBER's located in Louisiana. Post where you live, name, picture of your ride, etc. I'll start off. My name's Will, live in New Orleans, drive a '30 coupe, been in cars forever, lost my garage in Katrina, but recently got back into the scene.

Sweet car...well Im from New Orleans but now live in Atlanta..not sure if that counts but since noone posted i'd figure me writing was better than not getting anything. Im actually thinking of going back home but was telling my girlfriend that new orleans doesnt have that many rodders anymore...hence no one responding. Im remember as a kid going to all kinds of car shows...what happened?
Anyway pictures of my truck are on my profile and Im from Marrero on the West Bank...hope you did ok for Ike..my grams flooded...AGAIN!

  3. I'll never go back to Arabi, LA. Saw my house float into the middle of Rose Street, that was enough! Did Camile, Betsey, Katrina did it in! I'll stay in Florida until it gets hit that bad! Picked N.E. Florida for lack of canes. Nice car! Used to be a group get together in Bridge City at the foot of the "Huey P. Narrow" bridge every week.

I hear you on that, my old house has 6ft of flood water from the 17th canal and the London-ave canal. I live about 5 miles outside of New Orleans in River Ridge, but it's 8ft above sea-level, rememer that's high around here:D

Do you know anyone else around us?

I'm a NOLA guy, but I'm stuck in Ann Arbor, MI temporarily while my wife does school here. It SUCKS here... they don't know how to cook, there's blue laws & "last call" at 2, very little rock and roll, it's just plain boring around here. The people are nice enough but they're just not MY PEOPLE ya know? There ain't even a Popeye's in this hole of a town.

I lived in Mid-City, Uptown, & Lakeview (12 feet of water, thanks Katrina) and I'll be back for Haloween... then Mardi Gras is during Spring Break for these U-M yahoos so I'll bring a crew of em down and warp their minds.

Far as I can tell, my Bel Air is a N.O. car but I'm waiting for official word back from GM on that.

Can't wait for raw oysters and ice cold Dixies... oh baby!

    Hello,
Glad to hear from you. There are several people up here in Baton Rouge that are into real hot rods. Many people have moved to the North Shore and built their shops there.
Are you going to Cruisin the Coast?
    Mike...

I cook that food! I'm a chef by profession, mechanic by habit haha

I was actually just out in la. My grandmother, aunt, and uncle live out there. I loved it; 75 degrees and sunny! I couldn't complain:D

I'm going to try and go on Friday, but it depends on how my leg is doing by then. If I can't drive my brother might come down(CO) and drive the coupe over there with me.

I'm Bob in Slidell. Got hit by Katrina too with 5 feet of water in my garage / shop. Lost a lot of car/ bike stuff, tools, and equipment but slowly got back on my feet. Working on a '23 T roadster that was submerged in the flood but I managed to salvage it.

I'm Rob, I also live in Slidell, I got a 63' Chevy II Gasser in the early stages, haven,t had much time to work on it since Katrina, but now I,ve got the fever back. Going to Cruisin The Coast next week to see if I can score some parts, I'm also new to the HAMB and been looking at the HA/GR dragsters ,thinking about building on of those.

Hi Mike. I met you at your shop "open house". Except for rain outs, I've been to every Cruisin' The Coast event. Unfortunately, I'll miss it this year as I'm taking a 10 day trip out West.

Hey well Im in atlanta now but wanting to get back home sometime. Any of you know some construction companies. Im a Project manager with 5 years experience and a degree in Construction management. Hell I know this is a car site but sometimes its not WHAT you know its WHO you know. Id love to get back home to the people, food and just plain good time of a city. Maybe we all need to start making some plans and get Louisiana maore involved in the Hot Rod world like it once was...these damn hurricanes are destroying a great part of Americana history and seperating everyone..its one of the last paces that everyone can come to and enjoy...dammit Im going to go online and look for a job there...hahaha Oh how I miss home.

Hey Whitey Ford, there's plenty of construction opportunities down here in the greater NOLA area and the Gulf Coast also now in the BR and bayou areas. Check out NOLA.com ( the Times Picayune Site) should help you out.

I'm from Plaquamines Parish, trying to get ready for Crusin The Coast. I must be the only one wanting to get out of Louisiana, I'm tired of leaving and not knowing if anything willl be left when I return. Here's my Model A Truck I'm finishing up.

  25. Hello everyone,
My name is Skip, I was born in NO, grew up in Slidell(Eden Isles), lived on the Mississippi coast (Biloxi and Long Beach) for a while, then I moved to central Florida about 7 yrs ago. I used to get homesick, but that was before Katrina. Shit...., very little of what I knew even exists anymore.

Alot sucks about Florida, but I find the there is much more to do here car-wise. That has its good points and bad points, because all the vintage stuff gets whored out around here. In La, Miss, Ala, you can still stumble across some reasonable vintage iron if you look hard enough.

I'm Mike and I live uptown. Got a 53 chevy, 48 coupe, and my wife has a 57 she's fixing. Not really much of a scene. I tend to hang around people that build their own rides, and that's gettin rare. It would be nice to have some sort of event locally to draw some people out of the woodwork. The closest/funnest thing for us is the annual dixiefried show in atlanta. I'm always lookin for a cold pbr and talkin bout hotrods.
