  12. I could almost swear that is was a Chevette body, not a VW Rabbit.

I went to college with Ron Hedger, Ray's son. He's now a motorsports writer. A really good guy. Last time I saw him was at least 5 years ago at Indianapolis Raceway Park. I think he was getting ready to retire from school teaching.

  13. Bob is still racing in Florida and still uses the 2x. I see him every November at the Turkey Run. I stop by his shop in Edgewater, south of Daytona.

His grandson, Ryan Preece, just won the 300 lapper at Martinsville in the Boehler Racing #3 car. At the checker Ryan was 2nd, but a couple of days later the 1st place guy got DQ'd (illegal transmission and possibly ignition MSD box . We know what that could mean). Ryan led it most of the day.

I need to call Bob and get the straight scoop. He is a really GREAT guy and one heck of a good wrench and fabricator.

:)What about the original Falcon sportsman in 1964 created and driven by Pete Corey. Everyone seems to forget what an innovator her was.

islip run what you brung, check out the JAG!!! Also a funeral hurst in there, coming soon is a closer shot of that one!

  19. Check out the packed out grandstands. Years later they ran Run what you Brung again. I ran a Vega and usually started around 4th or so, I pulled up out of the groove and let everyone else wreck then drove around the wreckage, LOL. Usually finished in the top four. It was rich seeing all those new Mustangs, Chevelles and Daddy's cars wiping out. I can hear them now.
Well Dad, you see, I was on Southern State Parkway and I got off on the North exit instead of the South exit and somehow found myself in this big bowl..........
    Great shots kid.

I've heard stories from my dad's high school buddies of him entering his XK-140 in the run what you brung at the Cochran track in the late '60s.

  23. Is that the one you sold recently with the V8 in it? I forget what cubes and engine it had. CRS you know.

Yeah. Economy and all. Sent the poor thing to Spain. He drove it for a while with the Jag engine and then swapped it out for a 327. I don't think anything used for the swap was bought, no a-dapt-a kits, they fabbed up all of it. It was still using the stock Jag o/d transmission.
