  2. Does he need anymore friends?

  3. I'll ask him ;)

    But of course.

  7. I worked on my bathroom ALL WEEKEND, but tonight got a little time to work on the car. I cut off the front push bar and all the hokey radiator support shit. Now I can mount the radiator, grill, and front inner fenders. That made a HUGE difference. I also cut the spot welds and remover the top insert. The upper tack strip tray is in great shape.

that looks great chris, keep it up,
missed you and your bro on the poker run, mabee next year,
    bruce

  10. For sure Bruce...I was fixing my rotted bathroom all weekend, don't know what my brother's exscuse is :D Gosh I hate home repairs sometimes!

  11. Chris, the new coupe is looking good. I was worried for you when you said you didn't get any doors with it. That was before I knew you had "connections". Missed you at the Poker Run too. My engine finally gave out in my Coupe, 3/4's of the way through the run. I'll be putting in a new engine this winter.

  12. I didn't think doors would be that big of deal. When I bought my 34 sedan, it didn't have any doors either, and I also found them right off the bat. The only thing I'm worried about finding is door hinges, but I'm sure theres a poor coupe out there somewere getting hidden hinges ;)

Too bad about your coupe, I'm putting a new egine in my A this winter too...

Sorry to hear about your engine Keith, And Chris, that looks like a great lil engine you have there.

  14. Hopefully it will make my A a little more user friendly for west-side events ;)

  15. Tonight I grabbed my round dolly and started pounding the dents out of the top of the quarter. You can see in the first pic that there were about 4 fist sized dents, and I got em roughed out pretty good, just need some hammer/dolly work. Please note- I am not a metal straitning god, so any tips/advise would help. Your probably wondering if I lack the skill, then why the hell I bought this car :D I have a lot of tools...various dollys, hammers, vixen file, etc. I did some straitning on my 41's hood before it got louvered with good results, and it was really fun. So, please give me any tips you can, I'll probably need em.
Another note, I want to try to straiten the top, even if I end up replacing it with my other one at least it's good practice. The roll bar needs to come out to do this, any reason why it should stay in??? It is only connected to the floor, so has no structural value to the roof. It is welded to the floor, so will have to be cut.

Nice ride. You gonna redo it as a stock car? That would be cool.

  18. Nice progress Chris. Am I jealous much? Hell yes!!
That is one Ass-kickin 4 banger engine......love it!
    Keep up the good work.

  19. Woodbox- The 4 banger is for my A coupe, this car will get a 21 stud.
Chris- thanks man! It's really roughed out, but popped out pretty easy. Nothing is streched...yet :D
Skwurl- no on the stock car, just a good ol fashoned chopped coupe!

    Looks good Chris.
    Is that your dad's '36?

  21. Naw Jash, they actually just rolled into the driveway like that! Yes, that is my Dad's 36.

  22. Yeah, most people have. Some guy by the name of Doolittle and an outright world speed record.........:D

Haha.....one of these days I gotta get over there....alot of good stuff.

Looking forward to seeing this coupe being built.....you have a good eye on "cool".

    Any bites on the '41?

  24. The Granville brothers built two particular Gee Bee R1 Sporsters. One was flown by Gen. Doolittle, (the above number 11) and the other was number 7 flown by Lee Gehlbach (Who, was later killed flying No11). The roadster number and dice were I guess taken from them?
    Doc.

  25. Josh,
You are more than invited over anytime, I can show you some neat stuff :D No real bites on the 41, so I guess we'll just see what happens.

As for the dice, I have a feeling that they were used by quite a few race cars, and 7/11 would be a popular number and feel this car has no "history" other than being a northern oregon circle car. Just my theory.

It looks pretty solid. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

  27. The 7 ad 11 with the dice were painted in 1932, the Gee Bee won the Thompson Trophy in 1933, there yo go! You have a paint style, white, scallops and dice!!

  28. I don't know about that one Doc :D

Funny thing, my best friend Shaun just bought a beautiful brick house...also built in 1933!

  29. No? Oh well I'm pretty confident you can come up with something much better anyway. I have to say, your driveway is what I often picture heaven looking like. That 33 will be sweet once done. Best of luck with it mate.
    Doc
