Not so much a hot rod, more of a custom i guess...1950 Lincoln, 429 Caddy. got bored and striped the hell out of it. hand made headers. holley 750. 650 runs way better. more pics of the fenders back on somewhere.......it's back together, having problems with radiator at the moment.... anyhow, here a couple "mid progress" pics from about February or so.

  2. 472 powered Studebaker. Great for towing and cross country family travelling. A back seat full of kiddie car seats.

    Evel,

Seeing that you're thinking about running Studebaker adjustable rockers in this motor, i assume you're running (or will be) a cam and solid lifters? If those are they in now, what are you running for rockerss for the time being-- or are you doing that all at once.

    Thanks,

There's guys on the '63/'64 Cadillac MSN group GIVING them away. I've even seen some for FREE on the HAMB that nobody wanted, so they went to a landfill. :(

My 49 is a "Fordillac". 1960 390, Ford Toploader, Cragar bellhousing, Schiefer Flywheel. Here it is in Paso, about 1200 miles from home. My 28 Tudor has a stock 1950 331 with a Hydramatic. It will eventually have a Detroit Racing 2-2bbl, early 1949 valve covers on 390 heads, Stude rockers, Mallory ignition. I'll try and take a picture of the "fraternal twins" later tonight. Both are 390s with 4-71 superchargers. One will be carburated, the other Hilborn 2 pot converted to EFI. One will have a Cragar 2" Gilmer belt, the other will be a Tom Beatty style multiple V-belt. One will have a Vertex mag, the other a Jackson Roto-Faze. One will run Hildebrandt covers, the other ? ( I have not found them yet.) Then there is a torn apart 1950 331 under the one on the stand. Probably dimpled script stock valve covers, Horne 4-2bbl intake, etc. 5 motors but only 2 cars. Oh well...

Hopefully I can be lucky enough to run across a deal like that someday. Around here people want 3 or 400 dollars for a 305 sbc

A buddy of mine owns a pretty nice, untouched '53 Stude Commander hardtop with a Caddy 331 and LaSalle 3 speed toplader trans. As near as we can tell, all the mods were done back in 1953. Another guy we know found it in a shed on the coast of Georgia, and amazingly, the thing is pretty solid, especially considering it spent 25+ years sitting in that salt air. The old lady that had it, it was her husbands car from way-back-when, when they lived in New York. It's a cool old car. Not long after he got it home, he stuck in a hot battery, poured some gas in the carb, and the darn thing fired up and ran. He got a decent set of tires on it and drove it up and down his driveway. He trailered it to a show a couple months later, and when he unloaded it off the trailer, he dumped the clutch and let out one of the smokiest burnouts I've seen. The car held together. Later that day, I convinced him to let me drive it a bit, and when I got back, the bottom radiator hose clamp was so rusty, that it broke and puked out all the coolant.
Anyways, it's just a cool old Stude hot rod. His wife has claimed it as hers, and she'll be the one restoring it while he builds his '37 Stude coupe rod. It'll be Stude V8 powered. I also take the blame for finding him for that one as well.

    Here's a couple pics.
    More here: http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/559973808gaAcRM
    And here: http://rides.webshots.com/album/423977158fnnolL

In one of those albums, there's a pic of the interior with some of the coolest carpeting I've seen! He was gonna pass that on to me for my '59 Stude truck, but it came out in pieces.

I just love that Offy bonnet and the hand-done louvers in the hood. :D

We work on this one off and on as the customer's budget permits. But hopefully by the Spring we'll be able to finish the damn thing!

It's a 472 Caddy mated to a WC T5. The chassis is all moly.

Kevin built the front motor plate...
