That's actually the original cast aluminum gear drive that Dandy Dick Landy installed on this motor back in '66. Unfortunately, the original pump drive insert was sold by them after upgrading to the tunnel ram setup in the early '70's.
Milodon has been around since 1957. They are an awesome company to do business with, and I really need to thank Ted and Steve for building us a replacement drive and cover and shipping it the same day. Talk about service!
It's so nice to be able to call a company and have someone answer the phone that knows what they are talking about and are happy to help. Very, very rare these days...........

You would have to travel far in this world to find better friends than Mark and Kelly. Mark has put his life on hold for the last few months, and there's no possible way we could have restored this car without him. You can see by this thread the quality of his work. His fabrication skills amaze me everyday, and it's all done old school. No mill, no lathe, no tig, just a simple 2 car garage and a ton of talent and spirit. I would put his work up against anyone.
They really know how to make people feel welcome, and Kelly is one helluva wife and cook! There's a huge thank you thread coming, and you can bet they'll be at the top.

This is a very significant photo. It shows possibly the only 3 vehicles in the Guffey fleet not sporting magnesium wheels.
What kinda friend drops what he's doing on a Sunday before Hershey and takes a set of caps off his own car and overnights them, just so we can look correct at the CHRR?
Do they come any better? It's been said before but I'll say it again, Mike Guffey is my new best friend! He realized the historical significance of this project and willingly gave up a perfect set of Goodyear Blueline slicks. They just make the car. If that wasn't enough, he went out and found us the exact matching Pirelli Stelvios to finish off the front end. He is a true historian and fan of drag racing, and we'd never have made it this far without him.
Have fun at Hershey, Santa Claus, you've already made my Christmas.....

  29. So Mark, now that you are a full time, top of the food chain, vintage race car restoration shop, what's the new shop name?

    Royal's Race Car Restoration?

    Marvelous Mark's Mechanical Miracle shop?
