  1. The HAMB is a happening place :). Several years ago I took that same pic to a SMART series (now NASCAR Southern Modified Tour) race and showed it to a BUNCH of folks. They couldn't tell me anything.

One post here and you folks are on the hunt like a pack of bloodhounds .

    I love it!!!!!!!

  3. Yes, she was a card. Bobby Park to those that don't know is Steve Park's father. Steve ran the #1 Car for Dale before Dale's passing.

Steve's Uncle is still running and winning Championships at Riverhead Raceway.

    I miss Islip also Rich.

I'm lucky, down here, we've got Bowman Gray Stadium and that place almost matches Islip for "electricty" and with a normal crowd of 15,000, yes 15,000.

Here's a link to mod action southern style !

Hey, Vic, the Miceika 18 was restored by me, with help by Marty Himes Jr, in the early 80's. I do remember it being green #13 when we got a hold of it.

So, you've been down here a while...

I got to Weedsport a few times back when I was a shooter the trades and magazines. It was always a treat to go there, Fonda, Syracuse, Rolling Wheels, OC, The Valley, etc.

  7. Rich, we go back a long way now and you know me well. You know how somethings just tick me off, like showing me a video of THE famous Bowman Gray Stadium when I'm stuck up here with Riverhead! LOL (That and chrome mini starters, private joke.)

Ok, Thankfully we still have Riverhead!! Long live the modified series.

Chrome Mini Starters? You mean - The Chrome HAMB?

  9. Noooooooo, those two jokers up in Mt. Sinai that were selling them. Had a shop on 25A I think it was? That's how we met. Neither of us were buying them. Nuff said or these guys will think we're into mini chrome starters, LOL.

  10. some more info.
The car is a 86-89 cockpit tin if original is sloped to the driver that did not come out till 85. Look to see if the troyer tag is in the cockpit, it has the year on that tag! (should be on the tin that is missing or right next to the down bar next to the drivers right arm). The car also would have a x on the right side door bars instead of the straight door bars it has also would be a 2x4 chassis unless updated. it does have 91-92 nerf bars!-tommy rogers jr.

I follow HAMB person has emailed asking for any info on this modified or any more pictures. The gentleman bought the modified from a junkyard in Ohio in 1997, he's been trying to get info on this ride!

    ANYONE? :O)

  16. For what it's worth I went to the Supermodified race at Delaware Speedway near London, Ontario a couple of weeks ago and had a grand ol' time-Johnny Benson Jr even made the feature. Supermods are kind of hard to catch here in the Upper Midwest unless you live near those great Oswego or Sandusky tracks. While this season is pretty much done, if anyone in the Michigan/Ohio/Ontario area wants to take in a few roundy-round races next year, I'm usually game to go. Feel free to PM me next year...and if anyone knows of any regional winter indoor midgets, sprint races please let me know. Thanks.

  17. WOW!!!!! You did what I couldn't do.

Yep, that's it. Complete with the chrome door edge trim that went around a bunch of the body edges and fadeaway paint job.

I think I bought this car in 2000 or 2001 from a fella outside Charlotte.

I've been told it has the NASCAR mandated updates and would still be a competitive car today.

What tracks did Johhny Bush run?

Thanks for the help. Absolutely amazing :):D.

  18. John always customized his cars. His Fig 8 car like I said earlier was customized. It would have made a great street custom if it weren't built as a race car. John ran Islip, Riverhead. I'm not sure if Freeport was still operating when he started. I lost track of him afterwards but I know he moved on from racing on Long Island.
The chrome edging doesn't surprise me one bit.
I first met Johnny in Freddie Harbach's shop back in the late 60s /early 70s.

Bobby Allison, yes that Bobby Allison! For about 2-3 years he used to travel every weekend and race at Islip Speedway and then head to another track in the northeast but always raced at Islip, he'd travel from Florida every week!!!

    Artie Tappen[/QUOTE]

Hey Peter, are you sure this is Artie, it looks more like the Dick Barney owned #14 out of Jersey, plus; what the hell is he doing going down the midway/drag strip?

  29. got me, it could be dick barney but the photo I got it from said Art Tappen, but think your right. Looks to be going a good clip on the midway, I miss the old midway, saw a picture of it the other day and brought back memories. Plus if he is going at a good speed, check out the people just sitting eating lunch/dinner!!!
