You got it right Cruiser, they don't get it, even if you explain it to them. All I can say to Paso is sorry for your luck, but it was self imposed. So I moved to West Virginia and we love it here, lots of cool cars and shows. Rags
It looks like 1989 all over again, funny how most of those cars at that show..probably wouldn't have been accepted anyway. I will agree with 'Daddyfink', all other shows were just that.. 'carshows' compared to Paso. I couldn't care less if I went to another. It still pisses me off, but oh well easy come easy go.
lets see...pay good money to get in the cage and look at the pet kars. naaa I live 15 mi's away and wont go there, I was told paso wants it back! come on paso
man... would be great to see that guy stu mentioned invite the show back.. but who knows.. its prob just a LIE!.. anyone have anymore info on these rides ?? =) what a lame ass show.
Hey that Dale Jr replica Studebaker is the tits!!!!!! (insert the WTF? smiley HERE!) ^^^^^sarcasm is heavy in this area^^^^^^
I just went up to Paso a week or so ago for the Mid State V8 Swap meet held there once a year. Took a ride down Spring Street and saw they had Bull Dozed down the Lil Biker bar just north of the park & Bull Dozed 2 other building along Spring St. If WCK ever went back, We would only find that most of what we liked about Paso has followed the same foot steps that Fell A&W. Even Wilsons Restraunt is now closed for Diner.. WTF? It has been over run by Big City Rich Wine Drinking Yuppie Fucks who have moved there & brought with them there selfish "Not in my Backyard" attitudes.
I'm glad that I had the good fortune to go to the last 5 years of REAL Paso but I'll tell you this those reincarnated hippie fucks can go shove a wine bottle up there collective asses. That towns trying to be something its really not and the poor guys that thrived from the Paso show got cornholed I cant wait to go to Santa Maria this next year might just bomb threw paso with the headers uncapped on the way.
I definitely don't go to shows that have mini trucks and Paso will never get another $ from me. Looks like there were maybe 1 or 2 decent cars there out of a bunch of all over the map crap. But, who cares, Paso is dead and gone as far as I am concerned.
Looks like Hot August nights with all the 5,6,7 Chevys and the Cobra's and WTF is a full size truck doing in there! I think back 11 years ago,, nice to have a handful of memories. ~S
i quit going to paso along time ago. Watson was the one who got me to go the first time and we were hooked. everything was done to our cars just for this show. that was back in the mid 90's when we started. that was when there was a handful of greasers then and the lonely kings the Salinas boys were the shit.then the damn hotels decided it was time to start raping and we quit going. the last year we went was $79 a night at the San miguel inn out side of town the place a was great they would have a spot for everybody wash there cars and the same people were there every year. then some Indians bought it and the fees went to $200 a night. one the year they. i remember talking to Rich one year and i remember him saying that the other show promoters tell him he needs to move the show to a fair ground if he wants to make real money. he said that would not be the same show then. he was right paso was a special show. i remember driving down sat morning on the last show and doing like everybody, driving past A&W spot and telling my dad they tore the damn thing down. the next words were this show is over no next year. heres a pic of my merc the last year i took it to the show.
Sorry guys but can someone please tell us that live over seas the story on Paso that has got you so worked up? I attended the first three Paso shows back in the early 80 and was an early member of the WCK and KKOA. My licence plate was KKOA. Over here the show shown by the OP would be a really great show but that is here where there are only a hand full of American cars.
He would have had to. Otherwise Jason would have had to stop for gas 26 times between the Bay and Paso. Hey Jason, what does it got... a 3 galoon tank???
For what it's worth, I absolutely loved Paso. It was like sensory overload, just sitting on the wall of the Paso Robles Inn watching the cars roll in on Friday morning. I went to Santa Maria last year and was really disapointed. I loved the fact that in Paso the cars took over the town and everywhere you looked you saw customs driving around. Santa Maria had the hotel lot and the enclosed area show. I realize Paso treated Penny badly and she can't go back, but I would gladly give a donation of whatever they wanted just to see the cars parked and driving on the street rather than an enclosed area. I would also love to see a revival of the friday nite cruise. Rip Paso
WOW !! HEY DEAN ... I remeber this car from around Oxnard California in the late '80s when i worked at Super Shops on Saviers rd & That '40 Ford with the Meteor Taillights was Bill Hart's car from Ventura. Where did those cars end up ?
I lived in TO and sold the 47 in 85 to a fellow that worked at one of the studios. He painted it a root beer color and it is now in Minnesota I believe. There was a thread on the car here and that is how I found this site. Here is that link http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=238905 Here is what it looks like now.
I went for the same swap, and visited the old "haunts" of Paso too. Pretty much all gone. It was fun though. So I hope they continue that swap to give a good reason to pay respects once a year to a place that was once big fun. I even stayed in my usual room at the Budget Inn across from the bowling alley. That's a pretty sad sight compared to the weekend of the show
Good thing more people like Jason didn't bring their eyesore heaps to the event or there may have been a real problem with undesirables wreaking havoc on the local good hearted towns folk. Thats the last thing this town needs is TROUBLE MAKERS! And we all know un-painted cars are synonomus with "riff raff"!
I five Nats!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now thats a hell of a good Idea. Find a small town that would welcome the cars and our money, a good area would be midway down the middle of Calif, so wash and Ore drivers could attend as well as LA. very good Idea
So, why are you surprised that a town in the California wine country doesn't want a bunch of PBR drinking hoods hanging around?
