Pitty, Dick Dean car going to London

some where in my memory I recall an article about this car in an old car mag, and that it was built for David Lee Roth of Van Halen ,

 

If I recall from what I read on here it was built in 74, so I think its safe to assume the cutlass frontend was done by dick.

i think your are thinking of david lee roths 51 mercury (had a carson top i believe)

 

apart from the donk if i remember right he turned up at billing with a strange looking merc a couple of years ago, maroon colour....

Yes, the one for DLR was Harold Saul's old '51 Merc, David Lee bought it and Dean and Sons did the chassis change on it, cuz MTV bet David he couldn't make it from LA to New York in 4 days or so in that car, we swapped it over and he won the bet! haha! it can also be seen in the "Panama" video. As for this car, Dean always took chances with his builds that's how you get a name as big as his, by breaking out of the normal mold I see today from most. Maybe this one didn't work, but he did something different and some like it and others hate it .... You never know with any kustom, So keep being innovators!
