Sorry, that is the entire sketch. My guess is the whole top is going to need some gentle curve in it from front to back. Like those Carson tops. Reason being it would match all those curves on the rest of the car. A long, flat looking, straight top wouldn't work in my opinion.

  6. How about an early Corvette style lift off hardtop? Made from (possibly) a 58 Fairlane.

I deleted the side chrome this time too, its starting to clash with all the curved features on the car as itsa so straight. If it was also curved then it could work. The only downside is that its starting to look a little too "factory" - not Kustom enough maybe?

Jim, I know you like Bob Metz' work. Have you given any thought to fastback styling?

Or perhaps something "Italien"? Maybe even in Plexi. Something like these Starbird shapes. Just the back. (Not the best examples, I know, but you get the idea.) Just curious.

Jim, Here's a photo of the framework that I made after removing
the top off a coupe. The front section you could make removable
or maybe a complete tinted lexan panel could be made for the center of the top from the windshield to rear deck edge. Just another idea.

One side's got a hole in it, so I don't know if that helps you or not.

I don't know, I really like the photoshop of the '58 Ford roof, really a lot. Although it'd be hard to do if you plan to make it removable. Flows so nice, though.

  14. Well, what if we swap the metal roof for a bubble (and an air con unit!).....

that short bubble is fairly close to what i am envisioning for the car,,,,,,,,
the "targa" band needs to be a little thicker (about 3X what it is there), and at more of a forward angle (and possibly in chrome,,or maybe pleated off white upholstery),,,

James D and TwoChops,,,,,you guys are great,,thanks again,,,

    this is fun,,,,,,
i think the side scoop works better if the cove is shortened back to where it was,,,
the crown vic piece works pretty good,,,but i dont think it is thick (wide) enough,,,
    has definite possibilities though..

    most definitely an influence....
that would be a cool car to clone, wouldn't it?

  29. Ain´t it though!:D

Yeah, I just kind of botched it back on there. Don´t have so long to play about with this at lunchtime!

It´d be impossible to find one anyway wouldn´t it?
