Here is Fred and many of his family members with "Royalshifter" on the right.
Fred was one happy fellow to see his "old flame" in such beautiful shape and in such loving hands...it was a grand day :)

    Great eye, Ric!
That's George's Catalina tow vehicle to the right, and the primered front end is due to an unfortunate testing incident involving a grape post.......
Great shot that I've never seen before!

Pretty hard slam criticizing my Dad here you well knowing it was already a street rod when he bought it and we painted it this way long before any one cared about restoring old race cars. One thing I can tell you is my dad probably put close to 75,000 street miles on it in the many years he owned it, that car never saw a trailer until it went out west. Yes it was slightly worn out but that's becaused it was used as a car should be, it was driven.

GREAT Job on the restoration of the Teixeira Willys. Love them old Gassers. You guys did a fine job, the car looks GREAT and I'm sure Fred is very pround of your efforts.

  24. As it has already been stated, photographs don't do the restored "TEIXEIRA III" Willys justice ... you really do need to see it in person!

That said, here's a few of my (low-rez) snapshots of "Tex" @ CHRR:

You really can't appreciate the time and work that went into the car unless you see it in person. Seeing it again brought back alot of memories.

First off this is not the place to air personal grievances, perceived or otherwise. However, I did not post the picture of your dad's old car on this thread, nor did I make negative comments about billet beaters.

I did not know it was a "street rod" when your Dad bought it around 1985, as he carefully explained how he built it as a street rod with a Mustang II, crate 350 SBC/TH400 and you painted it in 1995. Below is a photo of the car from 1991-1994 before you painted it the two tone color scheme - I hardly think it qualified as a "street rod" back then, rather more of a former race car doing street duty. To the right are two photos after you painted it.

Your O/T post is derailing the current thread - something I never intended to do, but felt that I had to respond to the original negative post about the car, just as I am responding to the post you initiated. Perhaps you should be venting at the guy who posted the picture originally with the negative comments. Feel free to PM me if you wish - that's what the system is for.

Now can we please get back to the purpose of this thread and discuss the awesome restoration performed by Royalshifter.

  29. Hey Dave, I found this pic also, I think its probably the same
'66 race at Bakersfield with the primered fenders scan0015.jpg , didn't know if you already had it.

That is the same...Fred was testing the car out in front of his house on Manning ave when the right rear tire hit dirt....not sure what he hit but it shattered the glass front end and made a dent on the top of the car where he put some funky sticker on it... That is the end of Teixeira 2 when they took out the small block Chevy and stuffed the 426 Hemi in it...then they repainted the car as Teixeira 3. The rest was history.
