I wanted to give a poke to a good hot rod friend, John Swander, who recently was featured with his 1932 WACO (pronounced WOCKO)Cabin Biplane, and his 1932 Ford traditional 5w Coupe, built by the Rolling Bones......John is what real hot rodding is all about......check out the article... I hope that my hokey attempt to copy the article from the Star turns out to be readable....... Thanks for looking... CB
that Tom guy must read the HAMB, he profiled the Enigma known as Grimlock and some Ryan dude a few years back........ I was also privy to ride in Swanders 32 Roadster one fall day. Fun, hope to meet the dude down the road!
Nice to see John get some press. He's one of the nicest guys I've been lucky enough to meet in this great hobby.
John is a great guy! His plane is to be featured in the next couple of months in www.Benchrace.com on line mag. His 5W coupe is an awesome car. He drives it all over the US., like he should. Dale
Good for him! Thanks for posting this, Brucie. I've also seen his car at many different events - great to see he drives it so much! Malcolm
I couldn't agree more. Love that pic of John with his arm on the windowsill. I bet he looks the same behind the wheel of his coupe, just at a lower al***ude.
Great article , John is one cool Dude , I hope to see you in our parking lot again soon John , Maybe in the Coupe this time. Fathers day is just around the corner
Larry.....you too? I keep inviting him to fly into the Atlantic City airport and pick me up and continue on to New York State for the *****s' Garage Night in February.......<sigh>.........I keep waiting......he said I have to pay for the gas.....hmmmmm CB
Just a reminder, Garage Night is February 7, 2009 AND, there's a local airport about 5 miles from the shop. Come on John, fly up.
Yep, John is a real good guy........he took his plane out for "rides" a couple of years back. Here is the post: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144261&highlight=hotrods+airplanes Also, my pops called me today and said the featured his coupe in the new "American Rodder". A few weeks ago I went over to Troy Ohio, home of the WACO factory, to the WACO reunion. 32 of the big roundmotored biplanes were there. At 1:00 they all took of one at a time and did a flyby. Nothing like the sound of a radial engine,20 feet off the field, wide open. Used up 2 rolls of film and had a great time. The WACOs are cool old machines. Dont build em like they use to....
