Im no expert on welding, but that looks like a hacked up job. That guy needs to be mentioned so no one else makes the same mistake. I can't imagine what was going through his head as he was working on that, "Yea this looks fine... next"

Well, I had no idea this thread was gonna blow up the way it did. I figured a few people would talk **** on it, and a few would tell me I was dumb for getting it down. This was not the case. I am OVERWHELMED at the amount of support I've been getting from all sides. I will post up a "Thank you" list when all is said and done. This morning, I hopped in my LeBaron to go to school and the ****** started slipping. Late for school and not in the mood for being stranded on my court date, I took my sisters manual Ford Ranger with no radio instead. I went to the courthouse about 45 minutes early and met up with Dave (Kustomrace). We were prepared for the worst. I had a whole manilla envelope armed to the teeth with reciepts, photos, statements from certified welders, and other various related paraph****ia. Bryan showed up and we went into the mediation room. After about fifteen minutes, the verdict was out...........................

    You ready??

    VICTORY!!!
    :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Yup, the conflict was resolved in a cool professional manner from both sides, and it looks like I will be recouping the money plus all the additional expenses going along with it. Bryan was real cool and didn't refute what I was saying. He ****ed up pretty good, but he has my respect for showing up and handling his business. I'm not going to disclose the amount or the method of payment, but you can all be ***ured that I'm going to sleep tonight with a huge chunk of stress lifted off my shoulders. I'm happy to say that my great failure (You've all had it done to you) ended happily. The day didn't end there, however. After taking me out for a burger and a beer, Dave agreed to shoot my Iraqi project lowrider bike with a brand new coat of paint!! I'm not gonna tell you what color it is, but your gonna love it when you see it, trust me. In light of all the love I've recieved from all you HAMBers, I've decided to start keeping you updated on the ride as it progresses from here on out. Sound like a plan??

    Wow!

I just read through the Los Boulevardos thread and no offence but how the **** did that build get all the way to the point it is at now without someone calling **** on the work before it was too late.

DirtyT do***ented 80% of his ****ty work as he went along. You could see how badly the upper links were installed, steamboat even mentioned it. The shock mounts were clearly horrible from the get go and you could see questionable welds all over the place. Most of the areas were not even cleaned up before welding. If that had been posted on the HAMB it would have been called out as **** the very first post DirtyT made of his work. Did guys just not want to call out one of thier own. I find it hard to believe that in a car club like that no one could see that it was ****ty fab work and say something about it. Guys may ***** about ***holes on here but those "***holes" would have saved this guy a whole world of trouble.

Congrats. It's a shame it had to go as far as it did. I wouldn't really say Bryan manned up if you had to take him to court to get him to admit he was wrong and pay but at least you are back on track. Keep us posted.

Congrats, John! And good for Bryan, it takes a big man to admit he's wrong, and a bigger one to make things right. He went a long way to redeem himself, in my eyes.

I'm sorry but how can anyone think "good for Bryan." The guy didn't step up to the plate until he got to a point where he knew he had no choice but to admit he ****ed up and had to settle it. How long did Steamboat give this guy to man up and take care of his business and he didn't. He made things right when he realized he had no other choice. Not a man in my books.

I can't speak for the other guys on Los Boulevardos, but I am in no way equipped to judge a quality bag install. I've never done one, or seen one performed. My car is static dropped, and probably always will be.

But calling everyone "***holes" on the LBCC board, and hanging responsibility around our necks is just retarded. Of course his work would have been picked apart over here, where everyone that wants to talk **** is a self-proclaimed expert. **** me.

Do keep in mind that many people here ARE experts. For many people this is their livelihood as engineers, fabricators, mechanics, etc. Shoddy work is still shoddy work.

    Jake-
Not meant as a flame, just my take on this- words mean things, and the way that words are put together means things too. I would offer that you have mistook K13's intent in his post.
The way that K13 structured the sentence you reference to meant he was referring to ***holes here on the HAMB, not ***holes either on the LB board or in the club or group or whatever it is. I can not speak to K13's thoughts but I can speak to proper English and grammar and sentence structure.
I am a certified pipe welder and I read through the thread on the LB and while hindsight is 20/20, the pictures that were posted of the build by StinkyT or whatever his name is prior to the 'HOLY JESUS WHAT IS THAT' pictures were not detailed enough to call ******** on the build by anyone. There were a couple folks who pointed out the twisted up links, but the goober welds were for the most part not visible. I'm ***uming that's because the person taking the pictures did not WANT them in the picture.

    jus' sayin'

Thank you very much. Not taken as a flame at all. You pointed out exactly what I should have before I ranted.

The buildup pictures did not show ANY of the end result photos. People need to understand this. Of course nobody with half a brain, myself included, would look at the end result photos and say "Right on, man, lookin' good!".

And my apologies to the many bonafide experts on here. But we all know how armchair critics are usually the loudest/quickest.

What is the reasoning behind that? I did mine that way, mainly because I've seen other cars done the same and mine seemed to line up pretty good that way.

Mine is not on bags, just coilovers, and has a stock big block Ford running through it, so I hope I'm not going to be in a world of hurt sometime soon.

He meant you probably shouldn't weld to the cast center. Cast iron can be welded to, but it takes special preparation and technique. Your rearend is steel, not cast.

the welds on that car are really scary ****..glad its getting worked out.

I am by no means a perfect welder..but i do know the difference between what is good and what i saw on this mans car..thank god he made it thru a war and didnt get killed by this shoddy work..

A mans got to know his limitations....I hope i do

I've been seeing more and more work like this. We get to fix it. The customer gets to pay twice. It ****s for them.

    Thanks.

It was not meant as a flame in anyway for members of either board. In reality I don't think there are ***holes on either board. Well maybe some:D. It just seems when ever anyone critics peoples work here a bunch of people jump down their throat and calls them ***holes. My point being that Steamboat would have benifited from someone calling Dirty T out on his work. I also dissagree with the comment that you can't see the problems in the pictures. I think, and I am no ch***is expert, that most of the issues are fairly obvious. It just surprised me that no one said anything on the other board. With a group of car guys like the LB I would think someone would at least question what they were seeing and say something.

I'm not laying blame on anyone, other than DirtyT, just wondering if guys are more reluctant to say something about a member of their car club than guys would be if they didn't consider the guy a "car brother". It seemed that the excitement of the build may have blinded some guys to what was going on or like was mentioned in another post maybe Steamboat was just unlucky and no one viewing the thread really did know what was involved and how shoddy the work being done really was. Again I highly doubt any of those pictures would have p***ed muster on this board which is one of the reasons the HAMB is so cool.

The bottom line is Steamboat seems like a good guy and it is super cool that his buddies, LB members, stepped up to help when he was having problems. I'm glad it worked out for him.

I also blame myself for that. I saw the posts and should have stepped up. I'm just happy John won the case so he put all this behind him and move forward with the car.

I think you got the saying wrong. "It takes a big man to cry, but it takes an even bigger man to laugh at that man." (Jack Handey) :D

Great news John, hope that car is back out soon, neat looker she is!
