Just bought this 1989 3500 1 ton for the donor chassis for my 1947 COE. I'll shorten it up to take a six foot bed.

This is what keeps me young......;) Almost done with the 50/54 pick up. Time to get back on the 55 Gasser. I'll start this COE this spring. Just gathering up all the parts ahead of time. As you get older, your supposed to get smarter. You just need to set one day a week to do "your stuff". And like Christy always told me " do a little everyday, and eventually they get done".

Saw these cab overs today. These were apperantly saved from the crusher, since the guy owns the scrapyard, but I took it that they were not for sale.

I think the above is a movie prop. It still looks cool though.

This is one we saw at the AHTS show a few years back. I took a pic of it with Sharon next to it to show how small it was. It was like a half scale.

Great thread. I just bought a 46 Chevy COE which I plan on building as a vintage style car hauler, and currently I´m just browsing the web for inspiration and knowledge.

If anyone know my truck - it was imported from the US 6-12 months ago, I would like to get more info about the restoration that has been done so far.

Currently it has a 454/auto trans as far as I know. I´m considering stretching the original frame, possibly extending the cab and installing a vintage looking slanted bed to haul my 66 vintage Mustang race car.

    348tripower,
Very nice work. The bed seems somewhat low-profile. I always thought a bed with a tallish structure would look better on the COEs but what you have done looks great. Kudos.

    Thanks,
I will post more pictures later. I have removed that ugly bumper and added tubing under the bed rails. I also put a radius on the bed sides at the bottom rear. Makes it look a whole lot better.

Wow, I have a GMC one of these things. It is the "next" COE project after my current one gets back on the road.

Here's one the boy and I ran across in Oklahoma, Old Route 66, somewhere between Sapulpa and Tulsa. We were headed for the HAMB Drags.

Finally got one! It's a 1950 GMC and is totally complete. Hasn't run since the late 70's but the engine turns and looks clean. This thing is VERY strait and I only found one little 2 inch dent on the drivers fender! It's always been in california and is a 1 owner truck that was in my friends family since new. It was used to haul peaches back in the day. Its almost totally rust free but does have the typical small rust spots in the bottom rear corners of the cab.

I was wanting a ford COE but this is pretty cool! I might trade if someone has something earlier or I might even sell it to get an older one. Any offers???

    well you asked for comments.

I think you are doing a good job on bringing an old mopar back to life, I would rather see a mopar engine in it:D
I know its your truck and you can build it any way you want,
but mopars in a mopar are so cool, just my opinion....
