you don't really DRIVE that do you?

  1. I live in Michigan, one cold winter day in Jan. I stopped at an Autozone. The counter ***** told me how stupid I was to drive my hot rod in the winter with all the snow and salt on the road.
His boss fired him on the spot. I just looked at the ***** and said, now who's the stupid one.

I'm actually uncomfortable in a newer car with all the gadgetry. My wife's Chrysler 300 gives me the willys when I "drive" it. I think it drives me.
Nope, this is my daily driver and it feels as comfortable as an old pair of jeans.
Check out my "A/C"...cowl vent, wind-out windshield and roll-down windows.

I got asked at a drive through this summer " are you really allowed to drive that on the street"? I carefully answered "yes, it's fully licenced and insured."
Remember, these people get to vote.....

I heard, "...but it's too bad these don't get driven..." about the Royale at Hershey. I replied, "yeah, that's why I keep a bottle of spray mud for under the fenders so it looks like we drive it", as I pointed out that there was indeed mud spashed under there. No wall flowers from our shop either. If it doesn't function don't have it. Soap n water works wonders.

No kidding. I get all the time people are shocked and think I'm stupid for subjecting my 57 Ranchero to the daily drive, yet they are driving something that cost 2-3 times as much! Plus it never dawns on them that a year from now when both the Ranchero or their car has a few more door dings and road rash my Ranchero will be worth as much if not more then it is today and their late model will have depreciated. Makes one wonder who's the stupid one?

my air doesn't work, and i have no plans to fix it,thought about getting one of those coolerair things for long trips, crank up windows,i hate electric,no abs,no airbags,no crumple zones,no fuel injection, I did add cruise, but i have a bad knee so it's hard on long trips without it,

****, in '59 my Galaxie was considered a top of the line car..... only the Skyliner and Tbird were above it. it'd still have the original 352 if the PO had done a couple of oil changes a year. and it might be big and clumsy but it'll bury that speedo needle to the far right....

and it might slow down a coupla MPH going through a Honda.

one of these days it MIGHT get a "mayberry PD" paint job and lights....

I drove my 57 to Florida and people there didn't believe me. I guess they didn't think an old car will travel a couple of thousand miles under it's own power.

  16. I love this foto! Your car looks so *itchin' in it.

  17. I've used all my rods as DDs as long as there wasn't snow or ice on the road if I could help it. This year is the first year I let my car sit due to cir***stances beyond my control.
I swapped my daily 46 Ford Sedan for a 65 box Nova, gl*** fenders, yada, yada to relive a part of my youth. Now I want my rods back.

Bob the Ferret as in a FERRET armored car? now all we need is a couple of SAS Pink Panther land rovers and some LRDG Chevy trucks!

  19. Yes , a MK2/3 Ferret . The beauty of it is that you always have the right of way at any intersection .

Hell yeah I drive it. No heat, drum brakes, bias plys, straight axle, you bet. Hey, it was modern at some point in time right? And it's faster now than it ever dreamed it could be.

Lately I have been having problems with my regular family car, a 97 Chev Venture van. The a/c broke, a power window is not working right, trans problems, needs a full tune up.... Take my hobby car, a 64 Acadian wagon-no a/c, just open the vents, no power windows, hand roll them down, the powerglide trans is bullet proof. I can do a full tune up on the 194 6 myself. The Acadian is becoming more reliable than my Venture van, and a lot more fun to drive!

I love the "WTF" glares I get from other drivers when I use my high-tech directionals.....
Left arm out the window and point left for LEFT
Left arm out the window and up for RIGHT
It's the 21st Century, but not in my 76 year old car.

I've gotten the "you didn't drive it here did you?" Mostly when I've been 1,000 mi or more from home. Sacramento, Tampa and Nova Scotia come to mind. Was funny last week coming home from Fl. and seeing all the newer stuff that was on the side of the road. The cpe did Jacksonville Fl to Muskegon Mi. 1206 mi in one day.

I never understood the mathamatics of buying a 40,000 dualie and a 12,000 trailer so a guy doesn't have to drive his 35,000 hotrod on the road to an event.

I've probably put 300K on the 48 since I put it together to go to Tulsa in 1973. The plan is to put lots more on it when it is back together including a couple of trips to Texas and beyond.

Anyone that would get in my car knows I am going to drive it to the same limits or harder than I would a 2000-era car. I push it hard cause I can and cause I know the truck well.

If you cloned me, I dont think I would trust a ride from myself.

I got that question up in Waterdown, On., it's been a dismal summer here and got caught in more than one downpour but I wouldn't trade romping on that car for the comforts of my newer truck. Well maybe that day it rained from 9 a.m. til I finaly left at 3:30, I wish I would have had at least a top on that day.
