Attention moderators: No slicks are actually for sale in this thread, but check the cl***ifieds soon!

So for the last 5 years or so, I've been trying everything under the sun to get my little 33 coupe to hit 100 at DOTD. Yesterday, it finally happened. As cool as it was to finally have the elusive patch in my hands, the way it happened was even cooler. The first time I took the car out to the track (DOTD 1), top speed was 87 at about 15 and some change. Five years later after making a bunch of tweaks, hit the track and ran 13.36 at 98. After a bit more frustration, Buzzard and Lux flagged me into the "Buzzard and Lux Pits" for some moral support, a Dr Pepper and some wrenchin. By the time Buzzard, Lux, Aaron, Greg, DW and my fellow Barons were done with the car, my little 350 had the ignition advanced and Buzzard had taken the Radir slicks off of HIS car and bolted them on MINE. I really didn't have much choice in the matter, it was kinda like "here's my tires, shut up and go fast". So Lux gave me a little advice, which I will never share with anyone, no matter what, ever (unless you want to buy a beer or you're really pretty and few of you are). So with that, Buzzard's magic air scoop (TM Krupanut) was bolted on and I headed back to the track for a first run of 99.6. I headed back to the pits for a bit more advice from my sponsors. It went something like this "press the gas harder ****" and with that I was again off to the starting line. On this run I had my my booty handed to me by a lovely little 5 window, but I didn't care cause the yellow slip said 100.33.

So I write this not so that folks know that I hit 100, but so that my friends know how much I appreciate their support and encouragment. This event has been a blast since day one, but the cool folks that I have met over the years just make it a truly kick **** time. I know Im not the biggest fan of this event, that's Casey's job, but I may be a close second.

Huge thanks to the kontinentals for giving us all the opportunity to get together, look at shiney stuff and go fast!

Laura told me later that she asked you if you just got the car on the road! Haha!
I told her that I have pointed it out to her before & that she just has roadster on the brain. Your car has long been one of my favorites @ these events & I'm glad for the chance to finally get a little closer to it. Congratulations again for earning your 100 mph patch. Hows about you dig out a photo & show some of these folks the little blue car in question?

Congrats on the 100 mph victory glad I could help you out. I took a couple of shots but I had a bad angle to take the pictures so there not the greatest. This was my first time to DOTD but won't be the last. Maybe next year I will have my model A out there and we can run down together for a couple more 100 mph patches.

Those 40-40 scoops are for sale, btw! Practically guarunteed to get you to 100 mph!
    I'm taking offers.

Krupanut has been hunting for a 13.99 for as long as we've had the DOTD. He's run 14.1's for years now. Low and behold, bolt on the magic scoops and he runs a 13. Next run he earns his first 100 mph patch!

Now, Lux may try to convince you it was because I took 10 lbs of pressure out of his tires and he adjusted the clutch so it completely disengaged. But we all know it was the magic scoops.

Crease, glad we could help you get a patch. I'm pretty sure that advice Lux gave you was something like, " just feel the force in those scoops and go with it. Don't fight the power of the scoops, young padawan learner." It had nothing to do with the Radir slicks instead of the Hursts (?!?), or the timing advance. It was the magic scoops.

I still cant use that multi quote thing so...

Thanks to all for the kind words

    DW, trade ya!

Dan, we missed ya! Hope to see the GALAXY G***ER out there next year?

Buzzard, that's just silly to even THINK that the timing tweak or the high quality Radir slicks had ANYTHING to do with it at all. I have constructed an altar here at the house to display the "magik scoops". Perhaps I could have the Wells Fargo truck pick them up this week?

Yes indeed, that is my car

and most importantly....Yes, my friends kick ****

    Congrats,
It was my first time at DOTD, and I had a great time.
I actually preferred it to the Round-up, because the cars are racing, and not just sitting there looking good. (flame to follow, I'm sure)

I remember seeing your car several times, and it looks great.

I have to agree, I love the round up.....Dont get me wrong! But the cars running, the alky smell, the noise, all the electricity in the air had a damn good feel to it. It was my first time also, and cant wait till next year.... Man that "Day Of The Drags" is hard to beat. That lil blue ride is right on too.

  21. Congrats to krupanut for the patch...!

Hey Steve... Did you run the scoops and get your 12.4...???

Those scoops are the ticket... I've always loved the way they look and have ran a pair of them for the past couple of years!

  22. It's a FAIRLANE, damnit! :D I doubt you'll see me out there...that would be way too social of me. ;) You never know, though. It'd be interesting to see what my heap runs. What was your time on the 100 mph run?

Fairlane...Galaxy, Blake's truck, Joyce's truck it's all the same from my house! ;)

It was kinda strange, my ET at 100 was 14.1. My ET at 99 was 13.36. I had never run quicker tan 14.7 previously.

You guys are right. The Roundup is a great car show, but DOTD, HAMB Drags, etc., when the cars are running, is where it's at.

13.36? I thought I saw 13.86. I guess they still don't have all of the lights fixed in the board. Almost a second and a half drop is enormous.

I ice skated down three p***es and didn't get traction in 1st or 2nd on any run. The 3rd run I got a little sideways when I hit 4th and decided to call it a day. First time I was scared on the track. It let loose enough to get a little sideways and then hooked so I had to saw the wheel pretty good between looking at the rail and the center line. I was well ahead of a guy coming up on my so crossing the line would have been ugly.

I walked on the starting line on Sunday and it was like stepping on half a piece of bubble gum. I could barely even feel any resistance on my boots. Next to zero prep at all.

DW and I are going to make a trip to Seguin before long to run on a prepped track. Sounds like Debra may go. Maybe Crease will meet us down there!
