    John,
There's a '32 roadster with side curtains on Rebecca's link to the gathering of the faithful. It's the blue one that was on the other side of the dirt road, where the late comers had to park.
    Paul

PS: it was good seeing you and your dad on Saturday. I'm guessing it was worth the ride down from way up North. haha

It depends on how your top is made for side curtins...stock 32 curtins came back to the bow that attaches top to car..most tops I see nowdays has the top line coming down as if it had roll up windows. You will have to match your top for it to seal.

It would be nice to have a set of side curtains in the trunk. You never know when you'll need them, or the chains!! :)

    That's a really cool pic!!
You're way too funny though, John's roadster would be lucky to see the warm form of snow!

You'll be able to leave your shawl at home if you get those curtains, right John???:D

Here is mine. There are six snaps running along the top edge and down the back edge under the flap. Three snaps on the door and four post type snaps on the windshield frame. They work good but are a pain in the *** to snap when sitting in the car. I think a zipper starting at the windshield frame running along the top and down the back to the door would be better than the snaps for exit and entry.
With the side curtains and the hot water heater on I stay toasty warm in the cold weather. It helps extend the driving season in Wisconsin.

Roupe, thank you for the pictures.I'm just trying to extend the driving season,I did use the car both days this weekend, but with weather in the 30's and 40's it was cold, and I do have a electric heater, but that only does so much.

  10. Take a look at some of the British sports cars of the 50's into the 60's.

The MG A's had a drop in window that had the front 1/2 slide fore and aft.
    Other sportys were similar.

Spent a rainy day in one once.

Not sure if the Bop Top has a flap of excess material above where the window goes, but the stock type tops do and when you close the door you run a finger along the top edge of the 'window' and flip the excess top material to the outside.

One thing I've thought about with my chopped 2" stock type top and irons is to have a fold up Lexan window that goes up inside the car.
Hinge is oriented fore & aft.

I also have removable Lexan 1/4 windows, an easy install on a stock style top iron, but the Bop Top may not allow that.

Got any pics of the Bop Top interior?

Paul AV8 has some nice snap in side curtains.
Perhaps he could post a couple for you.

Id like to make something like this, this is for the BopTop,but instead of the front of the curtin rapping around the windshield posts,I think I can have a couple of straps with velcrow that will wrap around the postsand have the rest of the curtin held to the top with velcrow, does this make any sense? This pic is of the BopTop one.Now that I think about it,I wonder if I need a snap on the stanctions.

Haha! That's what I've been doing. No heater, no wipers, no windows... Been about 38 degrees around here in the evenings and I've had the car out every night after work. Yeah it's chilly, but hey, if bein' cool was easy, everybody'd be doing it! Besides, even the "nicest" side curtains still look stupid. JMO John, but I wouldn't put any snaps, velcro, ****ons, strips, side flaps etc. on that purrrrty red roadster if i were you! Just **** it up and drive! -JB

    John,
I have side curtains for my roadster, but I only use them when my wife is with me and the weather turns to ****. (she bought the side curtains)
Nothing like a ride on a really cold day in a windowless hot rod. Brings back memories of when I was a kid. Just wear extra clothes and ear muffs, then enjoy the ride.

Maybe I'm a ***** but I just got home. It's 40 degrees out, 2 hours after dark, side curtains on, heater on, warm and toasty enough in the roadster to drive in a T-shirt.

  21. What be ear muffs?

Izzat like, T-shirt, sweatshirt, down vest, parka with hood, knit cap and heater on?

Sweetie bought me a heater for my 32, but you'll notice what side of the car it's on.

My personal best is 16 degrees F.

    Prior to that it was 18 degrees F . . . and . . . a Harley rider with levis, leather jacket and Doo-Rag p***ed me....

    Hey Roupe,

That top looks like its from an old friends Roadster from New Zealand.
I have had first hand experiences with those curtains - they worked well.
Great to see its found a good home.

Sorry ... but some of us "HAMB O.F.C." members just can't help ourselves! :D

I love your roadster ... but if you wanted to drive your Hot Rod during the cold weather months, then maybe you should have built a '32 Hiboy Cabriolet (fixed windshield, roll-up windows, and the ability to go *******) instead  ... but then you would be hiboycabrioletboy :)

    LOL:D

I think that if side curtains get you drivin', then their ok. Besides they are traditional in a vintage car kinda way. I'd just be takin' 'em off asap!

  26. One thing to think about if you have a trim shop make up some side curtains is; ask how many and what kind of snaps do they prefer on the windshield post.
I think the little posts with the spring loaded gizmo that pops out sideways - usually seen around the tops ****pit rail - would be best.
Sometimes ****on snaps get to the point where they either won't release or won't stay snapped.

You may want to drill your windshield posts your self.
Finding 2-3 snaps misaligned is a bummer.
To put it bluntly some guys don't have a clue on getting mounting holes centered, spaced properly and the like.

Two winners I've been involved with:
    Brand new 88 Mustang GT.
***hole 'mechanic' drilled the front license plate holes off center and off level in the front plastic bumper.
I got it fixed, but it took some stainless sheet metal for a license plate backer etc.

Little brother took his brand new Ford half ton pickup to an upholstery shop for a tonneau cover over the bed.
The guy sewed up the tonneau then stretched it over the bed and drilled holes to fit the somewhat stretchy material.
The snaps running down the side of the bed went up and down and up.
Little brother was pretty heartsick about it, but he was stuck.

Main thing I'm saying here is there are a lot of shoddy workmanship guys calling themselves mechanics, upholsterers and the like who don't deserve the name.

***hole seems to be the one that fits.
They have no pride and toss a job out quickly and the only thing they're interested in is the $$.

    ***holes....

I have side curtains on my Abone and they work great. One thing to watch for if you are making them yourself, is to make sure they are anchored well at the door, front window post and top. When going over 45mph, the force of the wind has a tendency to pull the curtain outward. I added some velcro strips to mine. Fortunately they were made for the LeBarron Bonney top

    These are mine.

I waited along time for them and now wish I hadn't of bothered. More trouble than their worth.
