Well I got the car back on Monday after a few bent push rods / Rocker shaft thats why it was running hot.. the guy who assembled motor put the end on the rocker shaft wrong and it allowed 2 push rods to bend and stick..so I had no compression in the #1 cylinder.. after they fixed that I had all the carbs rebuilt again buy a carb expert... So the car was running pretty damm good... finally...

So Dave Martinez and I did some freeway driving on Saturday night and everything seemed good...

We wake up early to head to the Winfield show and the car is running crappy and we thought it needed to get warmed up and the juices flowing.. but not the case... when we
jumped on the freeway it was crusin until I would step on it it would miss bad then go..
so we pulled off checked the fuel filter pulled it off cleaned it and still crappy...
so we just go for it.. it was running a bit hot but not to bad..

We were in Palmdale and sure enough coming the other way in the middle of now were
Scott (Sloopyseconds) passes so we pull off and now we have back up...

So we think maybe the plugs are fouled and stop off at Autozone to get plugs.. and Dave
comes in and says dude............. your passenger header is broke and hanging off...
DAMMIT!!! it looks like when they polished it for chrome they might of over polished it
and thinned the "Rib" and with the heat it cracked and broke... LAME,,
    [IMG]

so it looks like new headers soon... I think I'm going to run them out the back.. my ears are still ringing...

So we make it the show and it was really cool..we got right in.,, and hung out..

I met Tracy a few years ago in San Fran and we got to talking I was telling him that I
want to build my car period correct 58 and he's telling me his coupe is period correct and
even has real reverse wheels..I would tell him about the coupe over time but this was the
first time he saw it and we had defiantly had to take some shots of the two together...
Even got Steve Stanford's 300 in the back ground :D
    [IMG]

Then Mitzi asked if she could take some shots with the car... sure..

Gene came over and took a shot with LIVE WIRE that was cool...

Then we made took off and made it home running like shit but made the whole round trip
Got tranny leak too,,, Yay!!!!! but now I got some work to get the bugs out.. but it was defiantly a fun time!!! Hot Rods RULE!! even when they SUCK!!!

Damn! It's gotta get better, where you don't have to worry this or that. So much for the saying "Ain't Lackin' When You're Cadillacin'" (just kiddin').

Man, I just like the fact that you stay so postive through all this. I mean the car is badass and that helps but, if I had the issues you've gone through, I'd be thinking some dark thoughts about the car.
Your setting a good example on how to keep on working through the bugs, and that even best laid plans sometimes don't work out.
Cool that you got to drive it!

  8. I knew there was going to be trouble, that's why I bailed out:D:D:D
Seriously thou, having the exhaust break off, sucks.
Little mishaps are just part of the, "break-in" period, at least you kept going.

Rad, Rad, Rad. I am glad to see the car driving. Maybe the header break is a blessing in disguise seeing how bad you ears were ringing. Either or I am sure it's not going to take away from the overall "sweetness" of the car. Good looks on run.

That kicks ass and sucks at the same time. Sucks they broke... It's rad to see those headers blue... I think running them out the back will be classy as hell.

I agree with 53chevy. Check your timing. Your vaccum advance might have come unhooked from the plate or something. Or if it backfired, you might have killed a powervalve in one of your 94's.

YA we checked the distro...seemed fine.. The guy who was working on the motor disconnected the Vaccume advance he said it was running better with out it,,, I thought that was wierd...But maybe thats the issue..
i'm going to take it back to him on Wednesday.. I'll mention it all...

Ya I'm thinking 1 3/4 lake pipes with a cap then under they go out the back...
Also though about stock headers Chromed of course.

    will see..

    I'm broke...

I' live in the Van bro!!

  19. Not to piss on your already shitty trip, but you might want to check your valves on that side. Cool air on short exhaust has been known to warp the occasional valve, and could be part of the rough running issue.
No need to pull the head, just the cover and see if everything is moving like the motor gods designed them to.

Ya Bob Bleed ruled those headers and now there all beat up.. they have some other cracks
in them and they Blued really bad ..witch sucks cause I had them coated so they didn't blue.. so either way the need to get re-chromed and hopfully I can take it back to them
and get them fixed but ya the way they are it kinda hard to make the capped version out of
those so i'll have to have a new set made..

So do you think you are running lean? Blued headers that shouldn't have blued seems odd or was it a crappy coating?

I've tried most all the tricks to stop blueing on the bikes...

from coatings, shooting the inside, letting them warm up in stages and getting progressively warmer...nothing seems to work for ME.

The irony is the trucks headers never blued...way better chrome back then.

Really though...takes NOTHING away from your car...I actually dig it.
