The guy in the hat and the Salinas boys shirt next to Barris is Bill Carter. One hell of a painter and a really cool guy.

It was really cool, lots of true talent there for sure, all very approachable and humble (just think of the combined years ALL them pioneers have in the kustom car world?)

I wish the picture taken area would have been a bit more organized so we could have gotten better shots and everyone in them, also would have been cool to have them all in an area for an autograph session for a 1/2 hour or so.

Some I didnt recognize, who was the three or four guys between Gene and Bill Hines? (the three with hats & the guy right next to Gene on his right, white shirt glasses hanging?) Please chime in.

thanks for chiming in on who Bill Carter was Plowboy, I didnt know which one he was.

Gene's wearing a Larry shirt, Larry's wearing a Gene shirt, that to me is beautiful.

Unless this is a joke, you have been mislead in the worst way about Chris Sabatino. All you have to do is talk to someone out here who really knows Cadillacs and is in the Cadillac/LaSalle club to understand what a crook and phony this guy really is. Just call Bob someday, and he'll tell you how Chris can't even turn a wrench. His cars, he buys them as they are.... The wheels, he's a dealer not a manufacturer...........

    Thanx socalmerc, interesting.
there was a couple other older dudes walking around the shop that seemed to be quite popular too, I had no idea who they were, just noticed a few people coming up to them and shaking there hands and saying what a pleasure it was to meet them?? they were not around when the photos were taken tho, I am sure there is/was a lot of people there that either worked for Barris or Cerny etc. and were behind the scene type of guys, I guess not everyone can be the "Star" so to speak!

His shop is almost as cool as the one in this photo, lol...

Gambino and I took a ride down from San Jose to this for the day-- and i'm really stoked that we did. Gene's shop is almost as amazing as he is. Seeing it all, you really grasp onto the fact that Gene is so multifaceted....

I also went behind the scenes and took a bunch of "junk" sitting around and behind his place. I was blown away....

As you can see from my photo, I also did some celebrity autograph hunting. Never done that before, but it's not very often that you get legends together in one spot.

All my photos are here to check out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/notebooms/sets/72157608206510838/

Nice to meet some of you guys out there too...

How cool this event was. Man what a gathering of the "kind" masters. I was so pleased to see the Mighty Gambino in his element with the masters. What an ass kickin paint job on the guitar, I see Larry Watson holding it, did he shoot it? Some way bicthin rides, and that little blonde honey was super fine!! Thanx to all for the coverage and added info.~Sololobo~

i take it your referring to my guitar. Watson striped that for me back in 95 when he had his hang out shop in norco, ca i used to help him when ever he needed it and this was his way of saying thanks all i asked for was a couple lines and this is what he did. i got most of the autographs when he had is anniversary show there at the shop. i finally got rod powell to sign it. if you guys ever want to hear some great stories i suggest you go hang with him for a day. i would hang out at his place everyday and every day he would tell me some cool story.

i agree it was a good show, glad i went.

you want to hear something funny or should i say really stupid?

i used to own this car i was the third owner. i bought from the guy who bought from the writer who was doing a write up on it's build for custom rodder. it was never finished cause he quit or got fired i don't remember.
this car had some the worst craftsmanship done to it, for being a mag build car.
the trim holes the guy put a dent then a piece of masking tape and mud over them the grille had this butt ugly 47 olds type tube grille and then the bumpers were to look like 66 corvette style but with a role pan look. the only reason i bought it was cause of the chop i ended up picking up a 51 two door merc out of moreno valley and put this up for sale.
a guy from hemet or that town near it bought it and from what i understand finished it. I'm glad he did cause it deserved a second chance.
    it's a beautiful car now.
i'll hunt down the before pics, back when i had it and post them.

here's the stupid part i think i sold it for like $3,000 to the guy. i just wanted to get rid of it. this was back in 94 i believe
