Checked out the site/For Sale page back when when the links were posted around the cheater slick and the site didn't change much. Kinda drifted off when the message board started, I'd drop in and check things out occasionally but didn't sign up until, uh, whatever it says. Larry T
I lurked for about 10 months. Thank god for my lurking because I was thinking of building a muscle car (67 camaro) before I started. My lurking period saved me from that. I can never thank the hamb enough.
I lurked for about 2.5 years during college. Just too lazy to sign up. An idiot, yeah I know But I'm fine with that.
I used to peruse the classifieds years ago, sometime back in the late 90's when it was just the JJ. Never signed up until a few years back though. Steve
Two years............... Eight months........... Three weeks........... Six days................. Twenty hours......... Fifty one minutes.... Fourteen seconds...
Over 5 years, I was learning too much to have anything to say. I finally joined because I couldn't live without the search function anymore.
was told about this site by Mr. Norwell about a year before i got my computer, first site i hit. lurked for 3 days then became a member. glad i did!
I was on here reading a few 3x2 questions that actually pushed me over the edge of "getting it". I completely understood what I was doing, but someone on here said something that made it all click. I joined about a week later when someone had some 318 Poly questions that I could help with. Then I answered a few Rochester and Stromberg questions, and the rest is history! ~Jason
I was talking to Carl at Mo-Kan Dragway about how I was into GMC/Chevy straight 6 hot rods and how I did not really care for the 1-800-Billet Rods, etc. and he mentioned the site along with the upcoming races. That was in the summer of 2005. I looked around for about a year before I did an intro. I don't know why it took me so long to sign up, guess I didn't have much to say at the time. I was just absorbing the information and the personalities. Now you guys and gals are stuck with me. BlackCherry
I started checking out the hamb mid 2003 or so. I was on the road with my band 11 months out of the year and never had anything to say. The hamb was my source for Hotrod news. Plus the flaming- Good lord the Flaming was epic. I didn't dare say anything. When I finally grew up and settled down and actually had time to build another car I joined up.
A couple of formats ago I lurked for about two weeks during the height of the newbie bashing and extremely funny shit-talking. It was ROUGH... and small. Almost everyone knew each other. I snuck in a few posts at about 3am on a Tuesday and didn't post for another month. Then I only commented on threads of people that I knew or if I could help. I still felt like a Newbie after two years... I'd say I'm "mid-school" HAMB as there were plenty of people on here before me, but I've seen a lot. It's way different now..
Been so long I don't much remember. Here's what I think might have happened. It was back early in my second juvenile delinquency. When did they make the first original Bondi Blue Imacs? I had serial # 7**. got it third day of production. About this time of year in 1998? Signed up for the HAMB about a week later, a couple days after I found it, I think. There must have been about 200 people here already, back then. All the original signup dates went away when Ryan changed the format in 2001. That's why lots of guys have that same signup date.
You got it - they made those from May '98 to January '99. THAT EARLY a serial? That's AWESOME! Did I mention I'm a Mac consultant? LOL! ~Jason
Lurked on here for about 6 months, my disability makes my ride a kind of "cheque book" Kustom, and I really wasnt sure if I would be welcome. Then I needed some advice, and this place definately gets you a straight answer so I thought, "what the hey" and posted my intro. Sure enough you guys came through for me, and here I am, day in day out soaking up what I can and ready to give back what little I can if the opertunity ever arises. Paul
I wanted to post soon after joining, but alas I had to wait till I bought my Mac. Otherwise Id just get that stupid fuckin hourglass for the rest of my life. I hated that stupid Windows carnival box.
I started coming here for the Friday art show. at the time I discovered this place it seemed like there was a lot of internet badasses being dicks to other people for stupid reasons... I figured who needs that? I finally signed up to give someone some correct advice about thier 49-52 chevy. prolly lurked a few months. never made an intro and laugh at those that think it is so important. now I'm here every day at work since I have a lot of downtime. what sucks is photbucket is blocked on the network so I miss half the pictures, ithink everyone should switch to flicker for thier photo host.
I joined after about an hour of looking around. But I didn't start posting much until last month or thereabouts. So that would be a 3 year lurking period. Later, Chad
i was on a quad racing message board for a couple yrs...then, all i did was look for parts...no talking really! i started lurkin here in 03...but didnt really know how it all worked! {ask zman, im a putertard!} then, i went to sign up, wham! lightnin smoked our pc......took 8 months to get another one~! i couldnt remember all the sites i looked at! then google led me back! so then i signed up, got drunk and the rest is as they say, is a drunkin blur!
Like Breeder, I came around in 03 and I just couldn't navigate it. So many folders and stuff. Then hooked up with the old SRS and then another forum since 04. Still there but not as much. I'm glad I join here, seems the atmosphere is much kinder to newbies then it once was, or at least seemed to me. The info here is outstanding. So are the members I've come to know. Many I've known for a while.
Same here! I was lookin' for pictures of Model ''A'' hot Rods and it came up with Evel's Live Wire build.I knew of the site, but had allways said that forums were SAD! How WRONG was I,now I think its the only place to be,when not working on my ''A''.Still sad as my Wife would have me believe! Just rejoined for the second year. Nick.
Lurking is good. Like Yogi said, "You can see a lot just by looking" Since I signed up, I can use the "advanced lurk", which you call search
2days!! got way to excited after looking at all the awesome ride you guys build. Favorite site on the net! Behind porn of course!!!
