Haha....yeah...'04 for me just getting a computer. Signed up after reading something in CKD.....but didn't really read or post 'till much later. Really started getting into this old hotrod stuff after getting a flyer for the 1st Hotrodarama, @ 2001? After attending that show, a void was filled.....hard to explain I guess.... Sure, I always dug hotrods, just never thought a PWT dude like me could build one....
Nothin' wrong with "pickin' it up in the streets". That's where I learned all the curse words I now know. That, and on the playground in Catholic School. No shit. ~Jason
dont laugh at me, but i definitely lurked for about 6 months!! i had my alliance membership before i even posted an intro! then finally i 'grew a pair' and posted an intro and now here i am!!
i found this site by doing a search on google for a 32 frame and the site came up. i looked at the article then joing rite after that. i asked a few question here and there, but it was not until i got my current job that i have been on here everyday.
I got on here at first to give a new home to a hydro trans, a guy was going to scrap it ! i didnt know how to type or use the computer! i didnt know what a message board was! all i found at first was the classifieds. but when i found the message board and info I knew i was in a good place. ive met a LOT of cool people on here and very few jerks. started to try to post pics, it worked,(i was suprised and my wife was shocked to see i got them on here right and didnt crash the computer). I am happy to contribute what i can to make this a cool place! im building some trad. stuff with my boss. Ive built alot of cars, race cars, but just getting in to traditional cars the last few months thanks to the hamb, thanks to the cool people on here!!!!!!!!!!!!! p.s. d2willys drove a couple of hours to rescue the hydro!
I was a lurker off & on for awhile. Didn't sign up bacause I was busy on other car sites where I was a moderator (never again). Went to a car show & parked my car w/ a bunch of real cool guys. My plan was to grab food from a vender during the day & beer from another vender at some insane price. Started talking to these guys parked around me & they were all HAMB members (5 or 6 of them). They brought lots of food & drink in coolers & insisted I sit & have food & drink w/ them. I never forgot that but forgot their names. I figured these HAMB'ers were friendly & great so I should sign up, right? Signed up & read for awhile. Where were the friendly guys? So- one day I took the plunge- read the rules & posted an intro, just like it said to do. Imagine my surprise when no one gave a shit! No responses! What was the point of an intro if no one responded? I spent alot of time reading only & gathering info. I only responded if it was tri-five related tech question since that was my background before the 32 I have now. I still read more than I post- the knowledge here is staggering. The one thing that floors me- someone can post some obscure pic of an A taken in someone's neighbors back yard 40 years ago & someone here knows the shit on that car & it's owner.
when the old "Rodders Roundtable" was self destroying Dr.J told me about the HAMB came right over never looked back. Still lurk here and there but visit here pretty much daily.
No I didn't lurk. I needed to know something so I posted right off the bat. Hung out a little while then joined the "Alliance" .. what a deal! I love this place. There will be more posts on here in 5 minutes than most forums in 5 days .. I do the "Yblocks forever" forum and there may be about 10 a day or so .. Too slow for a speed demon like me .. LOL!!
I lurked until I got a car old enough to warrant me on here, though the info I usually needed was basic= electrical, drivetrain, the stuff that can span a few cars and years. Up til then I was one of those 60's+70's muscle car guys. Camaro, Torino, Vega, TransAm, Roadrunner, etc. Course, I usually take awhile to do anything...lol. I have had a Neon as my DD for 3yrs and just joined a Neon board 3 months ago.
About an hour . I don't post much because most Hamb'ers know alot more than me . Also I'm so slow at the Keyboard it takes me forever. Next I gotta figure out how to post some pics. of my project. That should take forever and a while. Bruce C.
I got flamed once for thinking a set of ET IIIs an a B-400 was a cheap set of Prime wheels. Hey, it was the angle.. Heard about this site from some friends of mine on a local Mustang website, they thought this would be more my thing. And it is.
I lurked for a couple months. I figured I had little to contribute and much to learn. I still feel the same way. The Hamb has been a tremendous learning resource for me.
If you're looking for a new one, or hell, if anybody is looking for a new one, and have any questions, feel free to PM or email me. I don't sell 'em, I just help people find the tool they need. ~Jason
I lurked on and off for a few years. I think some should lurk more rather than joining instantly and obviously being off-ball about what this place is about. Then they get shitty if they get flamed. First homework, then join in. And read the 'read this first' sticky.
I remember visiting the HAMB years ago when it first started. I thought it was a cool place, but I wasn't really into this genre of cars yet. One of my sandblasting customers reminded me of it last month and i've been addicted ever since.
I used to look at the old Primer! site.I think there was a link to the JJ on there. When Primer! went down,I came over here. JJ had the cheater slick logo back then...I lurked for years. Still tryin to keep my head down, and not do anything stupid...
I lurked for about 8 months. thought I would join in, but I 'm real green when it comes to this posting stuff. I will just keep at it though! Also, what does " FLAMED" mean ??? Thank's
I occasionally visited this site for about five years before I joined, I had a life at that time, but now I don't have a real life and I spend more of my time on the computer, so here I am.
