  1. thanks for the photoshopped pic

it looks so dam cool ive got 3 years till im legal to drive here in the uk so ive got enough time to build my minor how i want it i was thinking about leaving the front stock height and just throwing some 2 to 3 inch lowering blocks on the rear axle to get her low enough so to speak but as you say no real way of slamming it straight on the floor without at least a chassis

  2. I don´t want to be the one to set you on a course that will end in the total destruction of your car.....

......but I wonder if you could cut the whole floorpan out and channel the body down lower? The front is easy to lower on torsion bars, the back on blocks.... could work......maybe!

If you look at the photo of the truck in the recent Rodder's Journal, the final paint layout is almost a dead on match to the photoshop.

  7. Be fair now, they´ve had to support the weight of that colossal motor all these years.:D:p

  8. Very nice. Any pics of the finished truck?

Here's a before & after concept photo illustration that I did for one of Roseville Rod & Custom's projects. The finished car is nearly identical to the photoshop.

  16. Thanx for adding to the PS tips. I hadn't really thought about how to add the pinstriping to one of these jobs, but you got me to thinking. This seems like a job for the Pen tool and then stroke the selection with a 1 or 2 pixel brush. Or layout a color panel with the Pen tool, convert the path to a selection and fill with color. Then double click the layer for the Layer Effects dialog and add a 1 or 2 pixel Stroke of color around the panel. Or if there's an easier way, please add it here.

I dont want to nag guys but, i'm about to take the body off and get some paint and i still have no idea on colors, I was thinking black with green firewall and motor but i'm open to anything, I know its not that easy (and thats why i havnt done it myself) I really admire a lot of your work and would greatly appreciate the help so here is the picture again.

  20. I use "Illustrator". The new versions have a transparency setting so you can layer stuff up nicely and it does nice clean line thicknesses. Perfect for those Watsonesque panel paint jobs.

that's more or less how i do it.

whenever i do scallops, i want to make sure i'm not subtracting detail from the original paint job, if you just make a selection and fill it with a color you lose all sorts of goodies like reflections, gradations that imply body shapes, etc. i take the pen tool and i create my shape, turn the path into a selection, and then copy an area of the body into a new layer, and then change the color either thru the hue/saturation panel (cmd U) or curves (cmd m).

after i get the scallop the color i want it, i hold down CMD (or CTRL on a pc), and it creates a selection out of the scallop layer's outlines, and on a new layer above that (cmd c, cmd v), i fill it with a color, select > modify > contract 1 pixel, and cut that out (cmd x).

then i start knocking back the opacity of the layer until it visually looks correct. basically the smaller the picture, the most translucent it has to be, and the larger, just the opposite. it's just good to have a small bit of transparency in there to kinda play off the light that's happening on the paint.

  23. Mid metallic blue with gold motor? (This is a bit too much of a vivid blue, but hopefully you get the idea)

My version.. based on James D... I think its a bit to low, but I had no time to adjust that.

I chopped the top, but more in the back. And I also added material to the side windows to make the lower edge more in line with the windshield. This way the windshield doe snot look over chopped as is the case in many of these chops.. And some more other subtile things.

This turned out to be an great thread. If I wasn't loaded with work, working long days, both at my business and on the farm, and in the middle of moving my business I'd be on the thread.

A lot of great work. Keep 'em coming.

  26. that chop looks bitchin there's some nice subtle touches like the grill surround and hood badge

i allways fancied seeing what flipper style hubcaps would look like on a morris minor

  28. Gloss chocolate brown and khaki/beige. Gold (which is a p.i.t.a. to fake in Photoshop) engine and striping.

    Posting this Hudson for JackShaft

JackShaft modified a 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Town Sedan (4 door, fastback roofline) Which he made into a 2 door sedan retaining the roof line.
