I only know because I stepped in it too. I used TPI-tech and the speedo hasn't illuminated since the day I put them in, and now the tach freaks out every once in a while. I regret not buying better quality gauges. Live and Learn.

Funny you should say that, I bought a cheapo VDO tach back in '95 that I used for years in a Mustang and will be putting in my Pontiac. Sometimes you find a pearl.

Except they don't work with the electric speedo, the updated fuel sender, the oil pressure for a babbit pounder, and the fact it is amps rather than volts (acceptable to me anyway), broken temp sender, oh, and 6V and rusted through from a leaking windshield gasket. Other than that, they are perfect.

Cl***ic will rebuild them but I never got a response back from the email I sent asking for a quote.

I've got Auto Meters in mine.

Glad the distaste for those stupid dolphin face guages is universal. Well, around the HAMB anyway. Can't tell you how many times I've heard "Hey I got these great guages and they were cheap too!" Dolphins or TPI Tech every time.

My sparky mate had fits trying to set a TPI speedo for a customer (customer supplied parts of course). In the long run the instrument was basically ****, customer took it to instrument makers etc to try and fix it on and on $ $ $....pay now or pay later theory is proven again.

Thanks for the heads-up. I guess its cheaper in the long run to buy quality, and only have to pay once.

hahaha this post cracks me up because Im the dumb*** who actually bought these freakin gauges haha. I like the look of them for the price which is why I bought them but I just got around to wiring them all up and I noticed the same **** with the quad gauge being dim as hell and im unhappy with them.

I think if they "really" cared.. they would have done something about it long ago.
Probably way before you even bought your set

I note that S-W also makes the quad gauge.
    Anyone have feedback on these?

When I first saw those gauges (the digital ones), I thought, those are horrible. They became the common face inside junky gold chain rods and 55-57 chevys.
I saw the later normal gauges, and thought that any company that made money on those first ones isn't dealing with discerning customers, and I didn't like the faces.
There was no way I'd even consider them, I never even priced them.

  16. i have a 6 gauge set in my chevelle and have never had any problems.

    Thanks for making me rethink!
Still like the idea of the quad-gauge; don't want the dash looking like a clock shop window.
The AutoMeter has a more pleasing face (by a whole lot).
Any comments on quality & durability? The wildcard here is it is for a ******* roadster; how weatherproof are they?

They will be on the shelves as soon as the bright/dim illumination resistors are installed.

I looked and looked at them and bought Autometer Old Time Black individual guages well worth the extra money.

The fix for the lighting issue is as simple as putting a 1/2 watt 470 ohm resistor in the yellow wire coming off the speedometer. Radio Shack part number 271-1115

Three years too late and why didn't you guys supply the fix?

Here is our poor product that you won't be happy with but go to Radio Shack and you can fix it yourself.

Funny thing they also are EZ wiring and I attempted to use their cheap wiring kit and had no help from them for various problems! I researched them on the internet, you cannot find a physical address for them! They sell imported junk! Learned my lesson the hardway. Bought a new Haywire kit with no problems!!!

Yeah Their SH*T is made in Indonesia and packaged in Flordia
TPI and EZ Wiring is the same outfit.
To save a hundred or so on a wiring harness, is it worth it for yer car to burn to the ground.
Seen 2 do it with EZ wiring in em.

Like the old saying goes, "Garbage in, garbage out" ! Around here they

have a real bad name. I went with Cl***ic Instruments because they

can be fully customized. I got mine custom painted with HOK paint, and

and my own logo. They even made my supplied Gaffrig GPS speedo look

like all of the other gauges. Kudo's to Cl***ic. In the toilet with Dumb-fin
