Next year there is a new show in Ontario Canada. Three day, July 10th, 11th and 12th. Show n shine, swap meet, Drive in movies, and the drag strip is open to all entries for heads up, grudge match racing. No eliminations, just a safe place to have a great time and get a time slip. Along with these events there will be a cruise around the Quinte bay, valve cover races for the young ones (and young at heart) as well as a reunion for the Peaceful pacers. These guys brought organized drag racing to the area in the 50's through 70's with the likes of dig daddy and many others. They hosted the NHRA Canadian Fuel Nationals as well. Some of the original cars from the home town crew will be there on display as well. Also there will be a dance saturday night with a live band as well as other bands playing through out the weekend. It's going to be a great time. P.M me with your questions.
turns out I may be in San Jose in August next year.... if I can afford to by then, I'd really like to pick up a driveable future project and get to a few shows....
Don't forget the JALOPYRAMA in beautiful Glen Burnie, Maryland this coming Saturday, November 1st. One day show over 1000 people 250 hot rods outside PLUS a selected 30 featured rods on the antique wooden floor inside the National Guard Armory. Show benefits mentally/physically challenged young adults (The Providence Center) GREAT SHOW - takes you back 50+ years when you walk onto the wooden floor!!! www.jalopyrama.com
I would love to come over for the Jalopyrama - sounds like it is a true tribute to the real car shows from back in the late 50s early 60s no fancy new convention halls - and guys actually DRIVING the cars there outside - hopefully next year I can come back east more!
Wow, It is still shocking to hear about how much Lindross, Suave and others love the show. 2009 should be bigger and better. Our saved date is July 25, 2009 in keeping with the tradition of the last Saturday in July. I'll post more details on the calendar as they come up. So far, vendor spaces have been free and I'll keep it that way at least for HAMBers this year, so if you come, bring your stuff(, coolstuff). The show will still be at Mike's Dance Barn in Nashville, Indiana, since the location os one of the best parts of the show. Thanks again for your support and interest.
Obviously the others mentioned for certain but.....Maybe not so much a "car show" as a "reunion" of sorts D) but what about BONNEVILLE!!!!
No problem. You guys/gals did good. Got a great location and the drive down there is superb. We'll see ya in 09 with hopefully more folks.
I have heard people talk about that show - but dont know much about it - but hey - if you are getting 100 cars there - I will try to come down - I just penciled in the date on the calender - it is the same weekend as Billetproof TX - but I dont think I can drive that far - so far - sounds like I am headed to IN in July 09 also - you should let me hand out flyers for your show at the Good Guys Indy and you should try to promote the show at the World of Wheels Indy as well later John Wells
The KKOA Salina show was in my top 5, if not my favorite show this year! I think it is always the last weekend in July, so that would be 24,25 and 26. Be sure to put all of these shows on the HAMB calendar everyone! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/calendar.php
same weekend as Hot Rods and Hillbillies? oh man 10 hours between the 2 shows........ looks like I cant make it to both what to do?
also - does anyone know the contact info for Gas City - I was hoping to be a vendor there this coming year - I know it is in Sept and about 10 months away - but it never hurts to get that info in early! Any info will be appreciated
Why aren't most of these deals on the HAMB Calendar? May I submit that if you know ANYTHING about these shows that you add it to the calendar? Even if you're not the organizer, enter everything you can. If the event organizer happens to follow up on the HAMB they could correct any mis-information, but at least it would be there. I organize an annual "Pie Run" on Thanksgiving morning. It's raining here and I don't know how many people will show up, but I know my A is going to go, and my dad's '32 highboy roadste is going. We're cruising up to Zion National Park, have breakfast and grab some pies for the feast, then head home. Cool Thanksgiving morning activity and it beats the hell out of watching some parade or game on TV!
