IMHO that is a perfect kustom,& the fact that it's a daily sends it to the top of the class.Hanks for posting it.
Thats the one! I was waiting for it! This car is tits. Its a million miles long in person, the pics don't do it justtice!
...edgeabilly: older pics before the rear fenders were modified and a chop pic on how compound curves can fuck with your head......
Believe it or not, it is a first chop by a rank, unskilled amateur. I got a bunch of guys together for the initial cutting and tacking (in 1 day). I then bought a mig welder and started learning. Then I essentially had to reorient everything like the roof pieces, A/B/C pillars, with a million relief cuts with a sawzall (no air in my garage). Here are a few pics along the way..... This is what I started with before the chop.... This what I brought home after the chop.... ..the following were some of the huge challenges for an amateur working alone.... ..this is just fiberglass on the top so far....filler to follow...... ...hope this helps to show the stages of reconstruction for others......
Don't use fiberglass!!! I would scrape all that off before you go any furthur. Its going to crack the minute the roof flexes the smallest amount. Either get the metal closer or just use filler. FWIW, that looks great and from what I understand, that is one hard chop! Espeically for a first timer. You've got more balls than me!
Cool man, I've got a 66 Tudor hardtop that I hope turns out that good since it's my first lowrider type project.
The trans in a 01 Continental is front wheel drive and the trans is a AX4S which is the same as an AXODE,the trans in the MKVIII is a 4R70W(rwd)if you want the best DOHC 4.6 mod. engine it was in the 93 MKVIII that engine was the strongest of the bunch
Phil's wagon is badass. He has some reeeeeaally nice cars. I was stunned the first time I saw it. I can't remember what I was buying from him but I walked into some old warehouse right in the middle of downtown Indy and there are all of these cars...caddy wagon, lincoln wagon, lincoln convertible, lincoln pickup, etc... all VERY nice. The 56 lincolns that gave their lives for this wagon were there too. He literally GAVE them to me and I gave them to a friend here locally. I also got some really decent 59 and 60 lincolns from him and one of them went on to become the ass end of Plowboy's SeaHag. I haven't seen him in a while but Phil was a cool guy with neat toys. Kind of a hidden secret in Indy. He said purists got really pissed about the wagon. The shop that built that thing did an amazing job. Everything was dead nuts right on it. You'd swear it was from the factory. I don't think I'd want to see the bill on that thing.
Here's a few. The lincoln cosmo race car was at turner's in fresno. The black 56 premiere is my old car taken at Paso. My friend's blue 49 cosmo in the background. The lincoln on the strip belongs to Rick Martin, the lincoln y guru. the hilborn injected 368 is in the mermaid clone. and then just some randon shots to keep it real. who doesn't love a lincoln funny car??? Shane
Here is a 54 Capri that I had a few years ago. It wasn't perfect but it was really cool. I would like to have another one some day.
Thinkin about dropin a dime on an old school custom 50 Lincoln. It looks like they're the same as a Mercury from the fire wall back, No/ yes?
THIS IS MY 55 CAPRI, and its alot further along now, will post some updated ones tomorrow. is this more what your looking for??
