Shawnee Mission, KS. Said to have more neon than any theater of it size in the USA. Neon was done by Finis Necessary
We just got back from an eleven state, 5000 mile road trip. I think I took around 1200 photos of old signs
Oh Man! Ain't them some beauties! When are you gonna post the other 1196? Oh wait, never mind. I forgot that I'm on dial-up! Though, you know, I guess a few more wouldn't hurt.
Lake drive inn.WAS IN MT ORAB OHIO. The drive inn, and the sign are gone. Had good times there when i was a little guy.
That dial-up can be tough! I posted a few more on our Flickr page. I've got a bit of editing to do still though. It should keep me busy through the rainy winter. Here's a link to our Flickr page if you want to see any of the others we've posted. http://www.flickr.com/photos/vintageroadside/
The absolute best old sign I've ever seen was about 30 years back in Nashville. Across the street from our motel was a Bar-B-Que drive in called the "Bar-B-Cutie". They had this 20 foot tall sign of a shapely carhop with neon outlines. When the neon was on the hips wiggled. I LOVED IT! Bar-B-Cutie is now a franchise chain but the old sign is long gone. sigh...
Here's my ride in front of an old sign in Quincy FL. View attachment 527654 View attachment 527655 View attachment 527656
