We started tearing into one of the 28 Chevys we have rounded up. I am thinking I should have left it where it was. We have all of the body panels but some of this stuff is ??????
I think I will now have a Beer or two and sort it out. What to do? What to do?

  7. I've been working on a 34 2d Sd for a while. Removed "All" the Wood and did steel structure. I must have been Insane to take this Project on now that I can look back. I really Feel for ya Buddy. My best advice is to go get a Check Up before your in so far you can't Scrap It.

Have any more pics of your car??? Mostly the front end. ( but other shots for inspiration as well) What did you do with the front suspension?? I have a '30 and am really strugling with the parrallel leafs!!! NOT wanting that style of set up, yet NOT wanting to just hack it up and "throw together" some after market stuff just to make it work??!! Thanks, Ken

Need any reference pics? My 28's still bone stock and fairly complete. I think I have the specs on all the body wood too, if you’re thinking of making your own.
Let me know if your planning to ditch those bumpers, I need a set.

Buddy of mine bought an old hot rodder 33 Chevy 4 door from the 60's that was parked in like 73, wanted me to look at it before he bought it. I opened the back pass door and it fell off in my hand.

    I hate wood.

Iam going to do a racer similar to this one. Its also a 28. It raced in the late 30's and was upgraded to juice brakes and front in the 40s and it was raced on up into the 50s.
Yes I will be ditching the bumpers.:)

But I would like to get some dims from you so I can peice the body back together. I am missing the trunk lid and the panel above it.

Good Luck with it! Looks like more than I'm capable of doing. :)

  27. John,

Why not go underslung- especially if you want to build it with the sprint body!

  28. I have several of under construction. Here is one of Current condition. Still a long ways from being a Car. Hanging all the Tin together was just to see a profile. Once I get it out of 4X4 stance I'll feel better. About all I still need is a nice Steel gas tank cover. It's 34 only. The one I have is Fiberglass and the only Glass part on the Car.

Looks good to me, save anything you can from the scrap man, most of the woodwork can be replaced with steel. My grandfather had a 28 Chevy 2 door he bought new when he was young and drove till about 1950. I never saw it but have one pic of it. He sold it to some teen boys in the 50s. they cut the roof off tried to make a rod and later toatled it.
