" another forum member cleared that up here, you may have missed the post. answer: Bill Drevo sorry you did'nt make it Steve. but i understand. you added some names i forwarded but i'll probably stop submitting because i dont think i know the criteria. just kicking out names of guys i know who ran stockers. Bob Walker Jr. " <!-- / message --><!-- sig --> Thanks Bob, I somehow missed that post! And please don't "stop submitting" names, the only 'condition' is that the racer's car was active 'around' the time that the catagory was refered to as Junior Stock. I'd bet 'Tex' Miller, Vic Guilmino and Harry Huntzberry ALL had 'Junior Stocks' during the 1962-72 time frame we seem to be using. <!-- / sig -->
Bill Drevo raced his Z28 Camaro in IHRA Pure Stock, where he set many records. He bought that car new . Before that, I believe he had a Modified Production type car, ..so he wouldn't be considered a Jr Stock Racer. The X-II Citation was another one he bought new, to race in the new (early 80's) NHRA FWD classes. Linda Sherman's car was a four door, base model ,not an HO. I have not heard from Bill in several years. He had some health problems at that time. I hope he got through them okay. First I remember Tex Miller, he had the Torino, running in the new (1972) version of NHRA pure stock. If he ran a Jr Stocker, I'm not aware of it, but could be. Remember, NHRA forced the Jr Stockers into Super Stock in 1972, so the Jr era officially ended in late '71.
Pretty cool. I saw a pic of that car at the Glastonbury meet coverage a few weeks ago. How in the hell did you get in there?... the back way, like when we would sneak into the drags when we were in high school? That's a damn shame about the whole situation there . Let's throw Frankie (nightclub man) Jr under the bus and blame it all on him. We'll feel better about it
Back in the Sixties, it seemed every gas station had a race car on the property. Now, you can't even find a real gas station!
Speaking of old drag strips ... see this (from http://www.lakelandraceway.com/the_end.htm ) ... yet? *Web site 'discovered' by 'DOWN SOUTH RACER'
Mark, He stuck with that color for a long time. He and his son Randy built a B/SM Sunfire and guess what, it's painted silver! Bob
Bob, thanks for posting these photos and turning me on to this web site, Great to see all these old pics, and to see all my old friends. This is great, I will foward this post to Norm and Carl Bennett. Thanks.

Dave, I sent this post to your dad today, I'm glade to see you got it also. He had told me you have alot of his old photos and are sort of a historian. John ps, I doubt if you remember, you were so little but he would bring you to my gas station in your motor home with the open trailer, it was the Gulf station in Neptune just down Hwy 33 from you dads VW dealership. NOW THAT GOES WAY BACK. JM
Great to see "The Banana Peel" again Dave ... now it's not so 'lonely' in here! By the way, why was Ed in J/SA then? I remember it as an I/SA, and after the (1970?) NHRA weight-break 'change' ... N/SA
I don't have any photo's of the Pontiac with I/SA lettering. I just asked my father and he only recalls racing the car in J/SA until '69. He went right into the Duster in 1970. -Dave
I was young, but I remember a bunch of it and have the photos and video to back it up. I still pass by that old VW dealership a few times every month. There was nothing like growing up in the back of a camper or ramptruck towing a race car around the country during that era of racing. -Dave
"I don't have any photo's of the Pontiac with I/SA lettering. I just asked my father and he only recalls racing the car in J/SA until '69. He went right into the Duster in 1970. -Dave" Thanks for checking with your dad Dave ... say 'Hi' to him for me -- he sold me (cheap!) his 'early set' of '4-tube' headers off of the '56 ('around' '68) ... he'll remember!
" ... I just asked my father and he only recalls racing the car in J/SA until '69. He went right into the Duster in 1970." Dave, here's a picture of your dad in 'Super Stock Mode.' I took it @ Englishtown, June '74 (I think'). Sorry for the 'quality'(no scanner), its a picture of the original that I snapped. That's Ed 'gettin dirty,' not sure who that is 'overseeing the operation.'
