[IMG]Here is a photo from an old National Dragster newspaper. I never heard of the show before I found this picture. Does anybody have any information on it?

One episode, "The Great Race" perhaps, centered around drag racing.
It co-starred Tommy Ivo and featured one of his front engine dragsters.
BUT the car he raced at the Pomona Fairgrounds was against my Dad's car, the
Briggs & Cagle AA/FD. It sure would be fun to get any video, photos or info
about that episode. Like I said I'm not sure it was that episode.

CRS prevents me from remembering for sure where the King Camaro was from. I do remember match racing against it with Hoover and Shiefsky at uniongrove around '72
North Dakota sounds right. Surprising how many fuel cars came out of a state that didn't have a dragstrip

Rob, not only is RED a killer car, but your Dad's a helluva nice guy! Hopefully he can make our reunion again next year(I'm sure Cumby will work on him!) and you, too!

  18. I worked @
Gazan Racing Engines in the early 90's and helped make/installed the rear
control arms and Sway bar on that car.

Excellent! FYI...the injected Vette roadster was formerly owned by a Korean American by the name of Mr Kim: The car was dubbed with the same name and adorned in deep candy blue paint. Based out of LA, the car was a regular competitor on the injected gas funny car circuit. The circuit switched to alky in 1971. Mr Kim's son has been seeking additional information on the history of his dads car. Mr Kim senior is still active participant of motor sports as he competes in motorcyle hillclimbs. The last thumbnail depicting a 1972 aerial photo shoot of several injected funnycar circuit members was derived from what Perfomance Car magazine, or something like that? I had the article when it was new. The some 12 or so cars shown represents about half the number of circuit members illustrating how popular the these types of cars were. I will contact Mr Kim's son from the Draglist forum and advise him this find.

Sweet! We talked to Dick Gazan a month or so ago about the rear setup...thing was turning right on the dig, Dick said it needed shocks...sure enough, looks like the car had the original shocks...so, put on a set of multi-adjustable CE's (I believe?) and first pass out the car pulled the wheels! Strangely, though, it didn't 60' a whole lot better? It's pretty consistently in the mid-1.6s, which seems lazy to me...??

  25. The CE's are actually the old Gabriel "Adjustable Ease" shock and they have a cheap platic disc valve inside. If you do a lot of towing with the car not tied down at the frame (less motion and bouncing while in the trailer going down the road) it'll blow out the disc
and the shocks are back to 50/50. It would be better to get some Hals or equivalent with the external knob, or double adjustable with separate knob for compression and rebound is even better. Keeping the right rear shock
stiffer compression will help keeping the right rear planted and stiffer rebound on the left rear will keeping from hitting to hard. Limiting upward travel of the right and downward travel of the left helps keep the car square and going straight. If you use a trans brake, try leaving off the
foot brake, this way the chassis is preloaded (more with higher rpm) and
the car will 60' better because there is no more time wasted between letting go of the button and the chassis actually hitting the rear tires.

  28. Last night at the NHRA Cruise my Friend Joe Lassalette walked up and handed me an envelope of old pictures. This is one of them. He found it in a stack of 60's pics of his C/gas Willys. Neither one of us know who took it, or how he acquired it. It is the Winternationals '63, early Saturday morning. The Halibrand QC had just splattered itself all over the starting line. My dad, and another of my buddies were just about to start tearing the remains of the rear end out, and Joe and I were on our way to San Bernardino with a guy who walked up and said he had a used Halibrand center section he'd sell for $175. By the time we returned the rear end was out, and they were waiting for us. The car was back together, and in line for eliminations at 2PM. Won class, and Sunday went a couple rounds in street eliminator, and set both ends of the B/SR record. That's Dad's 58 Ranchero in the back ground. The one I ran 147 in at Bonneville in '65. I'm very glad Joe found this pic. It is a reminder of how much fun I used to have drag racing, and how much energy I had at 18. :)

  30. Here's a couple of shots of Joe's C/gas Willys at the 65 Winternationals. He held C/gas national record with it in 65 at 118 in 11.77. He bought the stock 40 Willys from John Mulligan in '64. I steered it while Joe towed it with a chain all the way from Mulligan's barn in Buena Park up Highway 39 to Joe's Grandmother's garage in La Puente. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you're young and dumb. In the shot in the lanes you can just see my roadster behind the Willys. We were about to square off in the first round of street eliminator.
