Wow, that's cool. I know where another one is too. But it's fairly well known.

Holy shit. That's pretty incredible. I'll have to watch to see what it goes for.

I love the q&a part, someone tells him he should have it under 24 hour guard and he says "YEP = PITBULL WITH AIDS AND A SAWED OFF 12 GAUGE AUTOMATIC" Now how is a pitbull with aids going to fire a shotgun? That'd be tough for even a healthy dog, me thinks.

could you imagine... think if he put it on Craigslist for $500.00. he'd have never known, and how many people even know about these cars? I think the exhaust manifolds would have peaked my interest, but other than that it just looks like an old race car.

this car/story is racing around the net today like wildfire. I have seen it on 4 web forums since noon. Its an awesome part of history. Too bad all that will ever happen with it will be a full restoration to be sold for big bucks.

  13. Wow, is there enough of that thing left to warrant that price? To each his own.

    Cool history though for sure.

WOW, that is a cool piece!
Had a similar situation here in Rochester a few years back....
Long story short, a friend had an opportunity to pick up a 63 Impala shell for 300 bucks from another local friend....the said impala had an aluminum rear bumper and brackets, and aluminum front bumper brackets on it...the owner did a little research and found it to be a "lost" Z-11 and QUICKLY removed it from it's snow covered resting place outside the shop to a nice warm spot inside.......
Quietly the car was marketed just as it was and sold for just under 30K...
It has since been fully restored now as the ( i believe it was ) Mr.Wilson 63 Z-11....what it was when it raced back then..
    White with red gut......
That car would have easily ended up as a parts car, which it was for our friend who was selling it..

I'm glad this Pontiac was wasn't scrapped...what a shame that would have been!!

Looks like a decent project to me, I think the bidding has just begun

  21. Unbelieveable how this stuff happens..
It was cool reading the whole story about the rest of the cars though, particularly the wagon sent to Dallas, TX. It went to a guy named J.L. Meador, and thats ME. But since I'm 26, and have never heard of these SD Tempests, I'm guessing it was a different one.

Saw Arlen Vanke at Fremont and Bakersfield mid 60's.

  23. The J L Meador from Dallas would be in his 70s by now....I knew him in his Dragracing days..didnt know that he ever ran a pontiac tho...mostly Fords.
He was a factory rep for Belden Wire. The Pontiac guys in the area were Homer Kellum,Lyman Kidwell and Emmet Latham....back in 50s & 60s

Yeah, this is the kind of stuff that us younger(40) guys read up on. What we consider to be history, good serious beginings of something great was just getting by on a day to day basis. All of these guys we read about prolly didnt consider themselves much of anything but outcasts, and here we are talking about and looking at auctions like this one. Pure gold, it's a groovy time to be a live....

    cheers and beers

BTW, Im thinking this one goes for 101K anyone want to wager a beer?
