Wow, back from the dead. This car does have more lives than one, even on the hamb. Ryan, you're a miracle maker!

Just talked to my good friend - Long time Pontiac racer Jess Tyree. He is looking in to the authenticity of it but says that "so far it all sounds good".

If this is indeed the real deal its yet another missing link to the SD chain.

Just thought some of you fellow Pontiac guys might like to see two of the cars my brother and I built for The Anderson Brothers (long time family friends) guys who have been racing Pontiacs since the early 60's, and got the nostalgia bug !

Neither car is a SD car but inspired by them.

The 62 now has a tube chassis and has a best time of 9.90 at 136 mph.

The 63 has had some head work, different carb, and intake installed, and now has a best time of 11.10.

    Lettering done by Harpoon.

    Cheers, axle

Looks like there is a handfull of players in the bidding, and prob a few more in the wings...its at 75K and change right now...I project $151997.37

I'm in for $2 as well...

anyone wanna start a pool? Say the bloke thats within $500 gets the kitty? Dunno the legality behind that...if it is less than legal disregard...if its like seeing how many jelly beans are in the jar....game on!

"Super Duty" Kind of like "Boss 429" in Pontiac circles.

It IS confirmed ! This is a real SUPER DUTY CAR !

the VIN matches the documented build manifest in Pete's McCarthy's book that he got from the performance department at Pontiac way back in the early 1980's. at that time he was one of the very few people doing research on this sort of thing ! For those that don't know Pontiac is one of the only corporations that was good at keeping records on microfilm, and their historical records on their racing program (drag, nascar, trans am,etc) is no exception.

This is one of 8 SD intermediate cars.

    6 Lemans Coupes

    6 Tempest Wagons

    2 Tempest Coupes

All cars were painted Cameo Ivory (white) except 2 - a silver mule car and Mickey Thompson's Blue car.

This guy obviously didn't know what he had. As a guy who has a long time Pontiac background i am speechless to say the least. It really shows that rare stuff still pops up every once in a while. The money this is going to be worth some day is going to waaaay up there !

    Wow, that is crazy cool!...

I figured I'd throw a video and some pics of another rare SD Pontiac on this thread (hey, why not?! :))

I took these pics/video at a local vintage drag event in September of this year.

This is just amazing to watch. I guess I have to stick with my previous bet of $101,000.00 from the other thread. I think I guessed to low as well....

    How entertaining is this!?!?

the rear brake drums were removed and in the trunk, front drums appear aluminum with cooling fins. Tells me that the odometer was turning when the car was not.

what does he mean by this????????????

  20. Well, it's 7:18 and it just went to $80,600. Up over 5K today, and the high bidder has 0 feedback. It wouldn't surprise me to see it go over 125K. Restored it has to be worth in to 400-500 range. If it's legal I'm in for $10.00 at $125.000.

If I have this figured out right, the person that is high right now has a high bid set at $84,700.00 that he is willing to go up to at this time.

O.K. somehow I missed all of this. LOL (I've been busy).

What's the story with the front clip being in Florida?

  23. Don't have the balls to do it, but- This is the ONE time I could make the highest bid at $85k, and probably get away with it going higher each day.

It's not uncommon for super rare factory speed parts to be seperated from the original car. People covet them. They buy them, hoard them, buy the car and keep them and sell the car, steal them, take the car apart and misplace them, etc. But since they are aluminum people who wind up with them know that they are rare and of course valuable so they wind up surviving. With this car it is fairly common knowledge that the front clip and the original engine have survived but the car was thought long gone until this week. Now the key will be who will re-unite all three again. It would not suprise me if the current owner of the engine or the owner of the front clip are both bidding on the car. While the engine front clip and body are all valuable by themselves, each goes up in value if united with the others.

Even in these times they would bring $2,000 . My friend sold a mint pair about a year and a half ago for $2,500

    Well said.

John Delorean's SD car sold at auction for $500,000 so that is the least this car would bring in the future.

I don't know what Pontiac Alum front clips bring but ..
Mopar ones that are much less rare bring HUGE dollars

I'll venture a guess of $15,000 -$20,000 would not be out of line

Could someone post a link to some history related to this car. It really doesn't do a thing for me, not into the late model stuff, but making a profit is always interesting.
