You guys ever do a build sheet before you get your project underway? My next project is a 37 Ford pickup that has been in the family for 30 years! Every time I look at the pickup I say "That little truck needs to be on the road!

Anyway, the build sheet kinda gets me into the spirit of the build, and it makes me re-think the parts that are going into the project! This one is way to expensive. (Back to the drawing board)

1st pic is the build sheet.

2nd is how I want to build it!

im curious to know if the pick of the actual truck is the actual truck? if so does your dad own ALL those cars in the back ground.?

and I like your plan, plans make for the best outcomes.

Yes, he owns about 100 cars and trucks! All for sale! And yes that is the actual truck in the photo. I plan on pulling it out of the yard this winter.

Kinda think it makes me Throw up in my Mouth to see another Mostly There '35+ Ford with plans to be built into a Fenderless Over Exaggerated "Bobber" Truck.

Look up Gene Winfields old Shop Truck In either The Blue or Lime Gold color.

I've set down and made a list of everything I thought I was gonna have to have for a project and priced it out a few times.
A pretty good rule of thumb is take that total and double it. That seems to get me in the ball park of what a build is REALLY gonna cost.

Nothing as fancy as your forty. Mine are more along the lines of what larryT does. Always going back and scratching something out when funds change. I also bookmark alot of sites that have the parts I need so when the time comes I can just pull it up.

That is one fancy build sheet. Yours looks better than what the magazines put together for their feature cars. What program did you use to make that build sheet?
Do you have a background in graphic design?

    George Barris built originals.

    You’re just following a fad.

  12. I never try to price things out ahead of time because when I see how much it will cost I'll never do it . Ignorance is bliss

I did a build sheet, but it is an excel style setup. I have all the parts I've bought/been given, where i got them, who i got it from and how much it cost. I can tell you to within +-$100 how much i've spent on my car. It would come in really handy if you ever sold your vehicle. If you ever ask yourself "where'd i get that part from?", a build sheet would help. It helps you keep taps on your spending and might be fun to look at years later too.

sorry I shouldnt have said that! This thread is about build sheets, not about the style of the build.

    Right on Ratty55

That, I think is why you should do a build sheet!

1st it keeps you within your budget.

2nd it lets you know how much you need to get, if you sell it!

  17. Thats funny, when I bought the Rocky33 from....well, Rocky. My dad said, cool truck, my pal Jerome built one just like it in the early 60s....
