:mad:You would think others would give an old car going down the road some respect but!! I have to double clutch the Model A which causes people to nearly end up on the bumper. Then they get pissed because they will be late to the mall. The A will do posted freeway speeds ok (Pinto powered) but anyone driving an A knows it is like driving a barn door into the wind. Most freeway drivers are well over the speed limit and they can't seem to resist p***ing and cutting back in as close as possible. Is it legal to mount a pistol on the hood like the cops experimented with in the 50's?

A big shinny pistol would make an interesting radiator ornament.

  3. I get that with the Packard, they don't seem to realize that you have to double clutch it and they are right up your **** when the light goes green. On the H'way it will do 70 all day.

The Nova is a different story, no one can tailgate it. Well, they can try if they want but I don't like tailgaters. On the H'way, that's another story up to a certain point. Then I let them p*** me.

ha ha at least you can do freeway speed, 45 mph top speed here in my 31, I have to take all the back roads into town and sometimes I have tractors tailgating.

my experience is that people see an old car and ***ume you aren't going to drive fast enough so they zip into your lane and yep, cut ya off.

on the positive people always seem to let me into traffic and don't honk if I'm slow off a light.

    that's a courtesy I can get used to! :D

I think for the most part people just want to stay the hell away from my car however is easiest. I think it scares them a little or something

  7. happens all the time when Im in my 39,**** leaving goodguys I had a yuppie type come up the safteylane on my right and try to cut me offwhen the lanes merged,I decided not to let him in after thebug in front wouldnt let him in in front of me,,,he called me a ***hole and I sugested he move his *** back to LA....and yeah I get tailgated alot, but its worse on the harley

I find myself always yeilding to modified cars/trucks and bikes, for some reason cutting off the buisnessman in the benz or the 55 year old japanese lady just makes me happy.

My rod is running really rich right now, so until I rebuild the 2nd carb, it works great for keeping the bung-holes off my tail!!!
I might hook up the choke when I do fix the carb, just to watch the teary-eyed tailgaters.

I hate parallel parking because people think its old so it doesn't matter when they bump my car while parking. Had words with my girlfriends neighbor while watching him bump my car 3-4 times while parking in to small of a space while on her balcony. The 289 helps with tailgaters and highway.

Oh and a bi*** at work asked if I could park farther away from the building at work because they could "smell my exhaust" while in the building......I started laughing and said yeah it is running a tad bit rich.

I had the same problem on the way out to Goodguys yesterday morning. We had a nice line of 4-5 hot rods and this ****head in an SUV just had to cut in the middle of it. I went around him to hop back in line and he just about sideswiped me to keep me out. I was just telling my lady that I think people should show a little more respect when they see old iron on the road.

  12. yeah what a bunch of ***holes, they were there to look at the cars too! jelous *****s.....oh yeah got a look at yer car damn it was kool

"About the gun on the top of the grill shell "

Hell they don't see a big *** car going down the highway

What makes you think they are going to see a nice shiny gun ?

Of course until they hear or feel a nice warn slug up their *** ,

But what fun is that if they don't know who gave it to them !

I'm just kidding of course ,But boy ,sometimes it sure is a nice fantasy....

  14. ahhhhhh, it's good to know that not all the ***hats are here...:). people are just getting worse. i remember 10 or so years ago people would give me room, now they're almost in my truck when i shift into second.

The worst thing is a the civilian who is admiring your car and not paying attention to their own driving, they tailgate really really close, hang off your rear quarters in the blind spot, and worse, as they p*** they look right at you and drift right over into your lane! Nice to be admired but damned scary sometimes too.

What is this childish ghetto hangup these days with "respect"?
And when did the "disrespect" become a verb?
Gawd, I can't stand this ghetto jibber-jabber being used as correct English, the infiltration of our language by Ebonics.

ha.. I used to drive my lifted truck daily, and man I NEVER had a problem merging, or changing lanes, people would just MOVE or let me in, seriously it was nice.. but when I jump in a car.. forget it.. i'm having to cut people off just to get in a lane.. I miss my truck already.

for the most part people give more room and respect when I'm driving the roadster. lots of waves and nice car comments. I still get the occasional idiot that will pull out in front of you etc. had someone make a left turn across traffic at an intersection in front of me and locked up all four. don't let ANYONE tell you that early ford drum brakes aren't enough stopping power for a rod. If I had a p***enger in the car their face would have been in my windshield.

I like the smokescreen idea -inject some oil directly into the exhaust manifold like they do at airshows. That should clear off the tail-gaiters.

I really don't have it happen very much with my Unibody, but we did get tapped on the *** of my wifes 2001 Jeep Wrangler on two different times, taking off. Its a stick and yes its gutless! Sure glad its got the "Hi Output 6" insted of the four banger couldn't imagin how slow that would be.

On a local 2 lane road with a center turn lane, I've had people p*** me on the left (in the turn lane) while travelling at the posted limit of 45.

Maybe it's because my car exhaust kinda smells.
I had a cop pull up next to me at a light and tell me "boy your car stinks", then drive off.

I've also learned that turning backwards and looking at the people behind you without a roof on the car really FREAKS people out.

Alot of people do respest older cars It is hard to stop anywhere without people commenting on my car. The ***holes do make me mad. I drive a 66 chrysler 300. sometimes if i am parked at a light beside a newer car someome will be in my lane behind me and then pull over behind the newer one. ***uming i will be slow pulling off that sometimes makes me stomp it down and leave both of them. just to show them what it will do. I usuallu leave some room between the car in front and me. I know how my drum brakes are. I also don't like some jack *** riding my bumper.

I think this is one of the reasons flame throwers were invented. Either tailgating or for cooking... I've seen them used to make someone back off from tailgating and it works well. Of co**** this was after speeding up and braking to try get them off or to go around.

Just finished my roadster and have only taken it out a couple times, but when I turn around and look at someone tailgating or just to check if it's clear to turn people get a worried/scared look on their face... you can tell they are not used to having someone actually seeing them. They usually back off too or will let you over.

I drive an old car (as early as a teens thru as late as something awful in the 70s) almost everyday at some point or another. My biggest pet peeve is people that pull out in front of you thinking you are going to go too slow or not do the *required* five above the speed limit. I have had sooooo many panic stops, ya mechanical brakes :D Of course even if you are doing the speed limit you are bound to get p***ed by someone for going 'too slow', also known as the speed limit :D

Straight lakes w/ flamethrowers. Let 'em get almost past you then nail the loud pedal. Really loud noise plus fire....that makes people swerve a lot.

I only do that kind of **** when some a-hole tailgates then p***es me when I'm already running about 20 over.

  28. i have never had a problem with anyone in any car or truck when im in the buick, most people are smart enough not to mess with a 2 ton buick. but then again, i dont give people any reason to tailgate me.

It is the red lights that make me mad .*** holes see how close they can get to the rear of my coupe .My 2 cents

  30. The last time I had the '34 out for a drive I looked in the mirror and saw a young girl in a new silver Mustang that was inches from my bumper. The worst part was that she was on her cell phone (no surprise there) and was obviously in a heated arguement with someone on the other end of that phone call! I knew that she wasn't paying attention and would never see my tiny blue-dot brake lights. I gave the old-fashioned "hand signal" to let her know that I was turning off the highway (to get away from her). She went roaring by still ranting into her cell phone. Young girl + new car + cell phone + anger = disaster looking for a place to happen (and I didn't want to be "the place").
