Anyone have pics of sectioned slammed unchopped 50s era cars? I was going to make a post looking for them and for chopped sectioned slammed cars also. But killing two birds with one stone sounds cool to me. Looking for inspirational pics guys.
Anyone know where I mite find some pics I thought it would look different maybe give a tall T look to a Kustom?
this is (obviously) an in progress shot, and also (obviously) of a truck, but I figured since no one else seems to have anything I'd throw it out there. 52 chevy pickup 4" section, no chop
Thanks man. I had given up on getting anything. I was going to try and find side profile shots of some of the 50s cars and try to sketch it out or play around with them to help satisfy my curiosity.

Maybe it's just me, but I just don't dig how sectioned/unchopped cars look. I *want* to like sectioned cars, if nothing else for the amount of work they take to do, but I've never seen any that I really like.
Jim Wilkins' shoebox Ford, and the one Valley Customs (Roy Dunn?) did are nice examples, as well. There was a thread a while back on the restoration by Steve's, on the Dunn car.
man, after chopping the EASIEST car you cna chop, an A sedan, i can honestly say....sectioning a car the guy who can do it....is a f*ing RULER.
One of my all time favorites. I almost wrecked the rental car when the X-51 went past at the LARS several years ago.
why would you section a car and not chop it , sure if you chop it it looks better, but sectioning it alone?looks like shit, gotta hand it to the people that did it-lots of work there
here is the quintisential unchopped section, 56 fords and mercs have a very low stock roof, and a very tall body, they look perfect with a 4-5 inch section and no chop
Yep! I watched as Paul Harper went thru the pains of restoring the Buick years ago as he found it after Cushenberry had axed the top off. Found a top and re-installed it and restored the car and I think Gil or Lore even offered to paint it the original but it didn't work out with Paul. The fellow that bought it from Paul wanted something different and completely ruined a true 60's custom. Just as well started with another 56 Buick and left this one alone. That seems to have happened to a lot of 50'-60's cars. Someone bought it and then decided to change it. Too bad! Worse yet............ they are still doing it to fabulous old rods and customs. Mike
Sam Foose built this car in Santa Barbara when he was 18. He sold the car and they claim in the magazine that they did not know who built it. I see that the pictures and article did not come in. They are in Rod and Custom July 1954.
Street Rodder magazine did mention Sam Foose as the original builder in an article on Sam... somewhere in the 90's The car was later painted white and can be seen at the Barris Shop... possibly a employee at Barris owned it in the mid 50's... And the new TRJ issue (#42) has a great photo of it as well.
Thank you for that great information on Sam's Ford. Help! How do you load photos up to H.A.M.B when you do not have a website to take them from?
here are a few of my old chopped up nomad that russ meeks did while he worked at gene winfields shop in the sixties
that thing was a true driver/kustom..I remember seeing it drivin all over Milwaukie Oregon, pickin up parts, grocery store etc...you guys are going to shit when he gets this restored!
I really admire the amount of work that goes into a sectioned car but the proportions just never look right on. Just my .02
