  1. So... So... So... BITCHIN'!!!! :)

You're building this for a customer aren't you? If it's for you, you're a big bastard, aren't you, and are you going to fit in it? :)

I prefer a decent rake on most windshields, but I think yours looks right on the money as it is. The compound curve of the cowl line flows right into the posts making a nice "French curve"... kinda reminds me of the Studebaker "S."

Nice work on the block too! Someone's not fucking around! :D

Nah Brootal...this one is for me. At least until it's finished and I get to drive it some...then it might go to someone else.

I think I'll fit in it OK...I'm going to lower the bottom seat pan down some to get a little more space. I'm 6'0" and 210 lbs...I think I'll fit just fine.

I'm gonna say that the ultimate goal is to debut it "finished", IE painted and upholstered, at the next Lonestar Roundup. If I keep plugging away on it a little at a time, I think I can get it done. I don't have to buy too many more expensive parts, thankfully...but the nickle and dime stuff will continue to add up of course.

I still think we might be able to get it to the Pile-up in the raw, but there's still a lot of little brackets and shit that have to be made. If I didn't have to work on other peoples' stuff to make a living, I'd get a lot more done on the roadster! haha :)

Thanks Jimmy...I really appreciate it! Do you think leaning the posts back about 5 more degrees would be too much? I think it looks OK the way it is now, but I'm thinking 5 more degrees might be better?

Glad you like the roadster so far!

I dont know man, I was just looking at the pic's again and I like the way it looks. But who knows A little bit more might look pretty good too!! I dont like when the windshield is leaned back to far that it becomes a focal point. To me, the way yours is, looks proper, and it screams traditional hot rod. Play around with it, and try different profiles. You will know when it is right!!

  12. I too love that old Weiand stuff. I have the same intake and valve covers for a 283 I one day want to put in my 34 pickup project. I also have a block letter finned timing cover for mine and an old pair of Hedman headers similar to yours. Here is another item that would suit your engine. No pic but I hope to pick it up this weekend. It's a fuel pump blockoff with the Weiand block letters, no fins , just a amooth casting with the block letters. I'm not sure how rare it is but I gotta have it. Now I have to have one of those fuel blocks too! Windshield looks great where it is. Enjoying the updates, thanks for posting.

That first version is about what I was thinking. It's not a big change, but I think it makes the car look 'sleeker' or something.

I'll probably go ahead and lean the posts just a little more...not too much though.

Thanks..that was my biggest inspiration. The Doance Spencer '32 is probably my favorite hot rod.

Kev...do you have a photo of that Weiand block-off you could send me or post? I'd like to see that...sounds like I need to find one!

    Thanks again guys.

Wow - what a great build. It is rare to see the build quality and the eye both so on track in the same man.

That is gonna be one serious cool ride!what colour you going with?
    I just restored a '31 roadster deluxe.
Then again we don't have that many cars in SA that can be made into hotrods, cause most of them are being restored or has been restored.
We build Rods of what we can get here.

Can't wait to see that ride when it's finished!
    Keep at it.Nice work

  24. Here is the fuel pump blockoff plate I was telling you about. It is not in my 63 1/2 catalog so I guess it's later than that.

That block-off plate is neato, Kev! I need to find one of those! I have a finned Weiand timing cover too, but I don't think I'm going to use it on this car.

I've also seen a Hildebrandt fuel pump block off for SBC, but that's the first time I've seen a Weiand one.
