  1. So you are saying your car is an AMC now? :D

  2. There is tons available. Offy stll makes finned valve covers, and Wiend made them for years, making them easy swap meet fodder (I have had several sets), and any air cleaner will fit since 4 brl carbs use a pretty standardized air cleaner ring.

Also, all this "donate me a 340 and transmission" ******** is just that. I have had 340's and the cores are now going for near $1000 - they get more than most of the early hemis. If you want a mopar motor in your car, there are tons of 318's and 360's out there that will drop right in. I paid $100 for my last 318 that only had 50,000 miles on it and was delivered. I hosed it off, re-gasketed it, squrted a fresh coat of paint and dropped it in. It ran 15.8's@90mph with a 2br, 2.79 gears, and stock everything in my old dart. I had maybe $150 in the entire motor.

You can't buy 350's around here for that little. Maybe a 305.

Thats a good price, and I bought the 400 BBM for my COE for $60.00 and that was at the Pomona swap meet:D it had 60,000 mi on it and I just dropped it in. ran great
and my son picked up one with 56,000 mi on it from Ecology on a 1/2 price day for under $80.00. so the deals are out there if you look.

Man, some people are getting so mad and so angry just because some one asks them to consider using a mopar in their next mopar project.
    chill out people........

I would never take a 55 chevy or a nova and make a g***er out of it and put in a 318 or 360 dodge motor in it,
or take a 63 corvette and drop a 318 in it just because I had one
    but thats just me,
I would also put a buick engine in a 34 buick if I found one.
or a pontiac engine in a pontiac if I found one of them.

  7. I have put mopar motors in everything from a '63 Rambler to a Suzuki Samurai and even pulled a small block chevy out of an Austin Healy to put a small block mopar in. I have built chevy's for people and I have proven that dollar for dollar, a small mopar is the better deal in the long run. Just my experience, you mileage may vary.

My preference is Mopar in Mopar. Chrysler was the engineering company of the big three, better built, better designed and way cooler.

Build what you want, but like the man said, consider Mopar in Mopar and don't follow the other sheep over the cliff.

I do remember a guy showing up to Moparfest in New Hamburg with 30 Plymouth coupe, just gorgeous. He opened the hood there was a brand X 350 sitting there. Just looked wrong. After a few "nice ride, shame about the motor" comments, he closed the hood and left. Kind of a shame, but what did he expect at an all mopar meet?

Now if I brought a chevy coupe with a small block mopar in it to a chevy meet, everyone would just think it was a different set of heads on their beloved SBC, because, like why would you run anything else?

Let me rephrase......Mopar OWNERS are gay.............

  11. That's better!

I did however think that race and ***ual preference was not to be spoken of on this board . . .

  12. When and where?

My engine builder is buying every $200 350 he can get his hands on. 350's are getting scarce around her. The 305 in my pontiac cost $100 after s****ping the car it was in, and that was a deal.

Prooof positive that the majority of Mopar fanatics take this **** WAY too seriously.....

BTW.....I have a '68 Charger R/T, along with a **** load of big block parts, 4-speeds, etc, I absolutely LOVE Mopars......but refuse to cl***ify myself as a Mopar "guy".....as those hillbillies are weirdo's.....hahahaha.....

    Lighten up......it's Thursday.....

Yeah, but what about that goofy Mr. Gaskets scoop? :D I was obviously talking about the ones that do not have the funny plug wires running through the valve covers... if it's not a big block, (with the exception of a 340..) is isn't ****... in the eyes of some.

Anyways... small block Mopars and 400's are dirt cheap. Somebody GAVE me a Volare wagon with a 360/4bbl and an automatic. Running, driving car, for free. I had it rebuilt and it wasn't much more than a Chevy... I've found plenty of parts for it and it yanks my 5,000lb hoopty around pretty good. I'd love to see what it would do in a small car like a Model A... You can find 318's and 360's pretty easily... and cheap.

360's get no respect man....A freind has a HONKIN' 360 in a Duster.
At the elevation he's at in CO, it'll still jerk the tires a few inches.....on the street. Freaks out the Camaro and 5.0 Mustang crew....haha!

My '57 Plymouth wagon has a '66 289 Ford in it. I drive it everywhere.

I have a pair of Hemis, a 331 and 392, in the garage. I like to add that part to piss people off. :D

Seeing a '50s Mopar is so rare anymore that only the most eagle-eyed notice the Ford drivetrain.

Don't worry, I won't put a SBF or SBC in my '57 New Yorker coupe. :)

Hah! Dammit. Spit some gatorade on my keyboard.

I think he realizes that preaching the whole "Stay within your make" thing is dumb on a HOT ROD board.

And before you "flame" me... I dig mopar...and ford...and chevy... cool **** is cool ****.

    413's rule...........in '57 Chevies......:D

  24. Hahaha! Yes thats exactly what I'm saying.:D

Same can be said for the last few years of Studebaker production and 70's-80's Jaguars too.

  25. Ohhhh!..... and if that GM/Chrysler merger goes thru, doesn't that mean that a small block chevy WILL be a Mopar engine???? Or....., will a 440 become a big block Chevy??????:D

It's okay to upgrade any other make with a Mopar... that's perfectly fine and gay. :D

I think the 360 lives in the 440 shadow and therefore is one of the most overlooked power plants out there. Parts interchange for years, they make great power and they are all over the place. Not to mention the stroker kits that make them well over 400 cubes...

I'd just like to add few things:

Always use a mopar in a mopar,

Make sure you brush AND floss regularly,

    Don't talk to strangers,

    Eat your vegetables,

and just say no to drugs.

This concludes today's public service message.
