I have a chance to buy a 348 for cheap.... thinking about putting in my chopped and channled coupe... would like some input or some pics. any sugg. thanks sam.
Great engine, looks good, torque galore.......do it! I did one in the touring and was more than pleased!
I have to say YES! Go for it. Just be aware that it's pretty spendy to rebuild these engines. Here's a link for some pics and all the info you can handle on these engines. (I'm Bungy on this site also) www.348-409.com
We also have a W motor group here on the HAMB. As for rebuild they are not too bad. My gaskets and bearings were about double an SBC but what are they 1.98? I think I had machine work, heads and all the parts and came in around 2000 total including initial price of engine and a tripower intake plus powdercoating. Not bad.
buy it! but you have to use multiple carbs. tripower 2x4 etc.if you do buy it go to www.348-409.com fo LOTS of info.
Go for it! Parts are available from alot of vendors including places like Advance Auto.Tri power intakes are sort of cheap so it is easy to dress them up
And always remember, all 348s are really 409s just like all small blocks are Corvette motors and all-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l 283s are really 327s, and all 307s/262s/305s are really 350s.
Well i am all bundled up cold as hell here. Going to the local scrap yard to get my $40. 348. Shes a compleate motor and get this the old girl turns over nice and looks like it will run.. Thanks good info, and cool pic. Keep the comming.
Those things are boat anchors! Better send it to me! LOL! Seriously, I love mine! Go for it. It's kool, but not so whacked out different you can't get parts for it.
Dont post your address, and chain the engine to the car. Some devious folk may want to steal it The engine not the A bone
