Me? I was 16 and thought a '69 big block Vette was the shi**t! Then I was told to check out this movie that had a lot of old cars in it. Life ain't been the same since. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06RK0txasjI
The KKOA Sled Scene East in Gettysburg had a fine display of AG (type) cars this year. I have a VHS tape of the movie signed by Wolfman, I wish I had thought ahead to bring the VHS tape with me for Paul Lemat to sign at the show. I did get a nice photograph that were for sale of "Milner" & the cop autographed by Paul LeMat. I've lost track how many times I've watched the movie! Here is a link if anyone is interested to see the cars displayed at the KKOA http://www.stillrunnin.com/magazine/sr3/57-58
10 years old playing in a junkyard we'd sit up in this old airplane that was there and look out over all the cars. Also growing up surround by motorcycles ,muscle cars and 4x4's.
When i was 12, i got to drive an origional, non restored, 1928 model A tudor sedan, with mechanical brakes by myself on the road. I was the coolest kid in the world at that moment, and have never been the same since. I hopped in a time machine, and never came back! Here she is! She will be mine some day...
LOL I saw the movie just after coming home from Nam. after the movie I and a buddy took the long way back to base and hit the cruz in walnut creek, Then raced any body that would, I had a nice 66 SS 396 4 speed car then well after awhile that ended, I went pass a city PD at about 85 in a 30, oops the cop was very kool and only rote 45 in a 30 I slowed down that night. Every time I hear (do you want to dance) my foot gets heavy to this day. LOL thank a Vet
I got to see it first run at a drive-in. It was a cool movie, still is but I was born into loving old cars. It was as if it was a genetic thing.
In 1973, I was a mere youngster, I did not know the movie ever existed until ten years later! Even then, I did not know the impact that this movie has on the world. Hey mom, look, Richie Cunningham is playing in this old movie! Doesn't he look really young in this American Graffiti flick?
I've been meaning to rent that movie but, for some reason, the local Blockbuster doesn't have it. Is it worth buying?
My uncle Bruce, had a die cast 64 chevy, he would let me play with when we visited, plus he had a plastic doll that had a see thru nighty in the bathroom. I think that's where it "All" started. Uncle Charlie raced midgets and we lived outside of town and when he came to race in bakersfield, they would stay at our house and he would strap me in the midget on the trailer and drive me all around the back roads. Like to see someone try that now days on top of law inforcement u would have CPS on ya.
