You could buy a tractor new with a flathead V8, a lot of tractor restorers put one in to replicate the rare factory V8

  5. Once upon a time I cruised around Lincoln, NE in this 1930 Rolls limo powered with a 440 Chrysler. Made a good place to take a snooze too!!!

I had a 1946 Willys Jeep with a 283 Chevy in it. Still had the original trans and rear end so top speed was slow but it could climb up anything.

    Rich,

Didn't one of the major car rags do a piece on your mobile once?
Your car sounds, and looks, familiar (and I've never been to Lincoln, either).

I wonder if he wasn't prompted to do that, when someone commented that his van "couldn't-pass-a-fat-boy-on-a-bicycle-going-uphill".

....they'll never make THAT mistake again! :D ;)

mine was a 1972 Triumph Spitfire with my Dads old wore out Datsun510 wagon engine. Man did that little Trump scream. It had half of the valve cover out of the hood and the hitachi carb was also sticking out of the hood. Sure was ugly but it could cook. My Buddy Ben has a John Deere lawn tractor with a suzuki gs1100 and still cuts grass with it.

I forgot that we just built one that all of the Traditional crowd has hated so far and that is the 32 Ford roadster we did last year with a Triton v10. Tires seem to be the big problem now. Too much billet to post here but you can see it at our website www.uniquecoaches.com

  16. I had a 74 Gremlin with a 304 (some said it was a 401 from a Javelin, I don't know for sure, I never did anything but DRIVE it) engine...nothing really special I guess after reading some of these other posts, LoL!

AMC actually built that car, around that time (with the 304, that is).
    Called it the "Gremlin X".
Sort of a "S/C Rambler" mentality to it...neato graphics and all.

...a 401 would definately up the "fun factor", though! :D

Oldest car I ever worked on was a Locomobile (I forget the year, 1908 maybe? not sure now) that I fixed the brakes on for a customer back when I was in the auto repair business. Oldest car I've ever driven is a 32 Ford 5 window coupe, oldest car I've ever actually owned is a 55 Chevy, followed by a couple of 66 Nova's.

    My house(s) are circa 1890 and (currently) 1771. :)

  25. When I was in high school in Rockmart GA, kid by the name of Ken Atkinson had a '34 Plymouth 4 door sedan with an early '50s Rocket 88 Olds engine, solved the clearance problem around the steering box by converting to right hand drive. Seriously.

  26. My buddy put a 454 Chevy in an early 70's Rolls Royce Corniche conv.

Well Rixrex, your XK120 story reminded me of my friend's story. He has a stock right hand drive Concourse show winning 51 XK120 he got in 66 as a beat up driver. but one of the XK120s he had before had a Dodge Hemi. It almost bolted right up to the stock tranny and motor mounts, just had the sidewalls banged out a little for the exhaust. he and his buddy got it cuz the builder could not get it to start. He just shimmed the starter and the fist drive was all smoke. He thought the engine was bad till he looked back and saw the rubber on the ground the whole distance. All power.

I plan on putting a Datsun L16 in my 21 Dodge.

It's not a car, but a few years ago at Daytona Bike week I saw a home made MC with a Deutz diesel tractor engine in it. They are a German aircooled, think it was belt drive.
