Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Nitro-Flattie1, Nov 20, 2008.

  1. I picked up this "55" Ford Customline from my good friend "LazyV8".
He was able to get the "39" and i was able to get my hands on his old car i have had my eye on...

Im going to give it a facelift... and just put a few of my touches on it...

To start off with... Got some rust to fix...
Heres a few pictures... Enjoy! :D

bet the car was described as "has minor rust in rockers easy fix!" i remember returning a 55' chevy that the rockers were made from balsa wood! guy wouldn't give the money we put down (car lot) so when we returned the car somehow it ended up on top of a freshly painted 60's caddy convert.

Been there, still going thru that. At least when you get it done, you'll know that it's finally solid. You gonna do the repairs yourself?

    More pics!!

Car looks so *****in in the photos. That is what turns me off to buying via the computer. I had one and I think 52 - 56 Fords all rot out in those areas.

  14. I have a '55 that my parents bought new (Fairlane 4 door). They are all prone to rust in the rockers and rear quarters. I think there is actually a Ford part number for the rust in the rockers. Seriously, while '52-'56 Fords are prone to rust in that area, they are probably no more so than any other mid '50s cars. Consider yourself lucky if you have solid floor pans and trunk floor. Also, a safety issue: the crossmember below the radiator, the one that the front legs of the lower A arms connect to, is prone to rust out and let the bolts holding the A arms pull through. My cousin plowed out a ditch with his '55 because of that.

Yeah boy, those front X-members are rust magnets along with the rockers. I got 2 cars, one for parts but the Xmember's are bad on both. '54-'56 Fords are notorious for it.
