The jr gas dragster cl*** was yet another innovative invention of CJ Pappy Hart. Seeing the bevy of injected gas rails showing up every Saturday night prompted him to create a heads cl*** for these cars. Basically 0-380 cubes was cl***ified a jr gas car, while anythingbigger was deemed senior gas. 4 and 8 car open type shows were the norm.

    Rich,

I believe that car is about five mile from me. Bob Rossety restored it a few years ago. It was driven by Joe Jacona and was owned by a fell names Lowel (sp). I'll forward the pic to Bob.

  13. Here's an album I just picked up for 25 cents. It's in great condition (VG+ or maybe NM for you collectors). I know it's not drag racing, but it's pretty cool.

Pretty sure this is the Lowell Lister car - last I saw anthing on it Bob Rosetty had the remains and was gonna restore it.

(didn't see Rocky's post 'till after I posted so I'm just seconding his motion.)

Too bad this photo is reversed. Note the red shirt at lower left: the lettering is reversed. This location is now John Wayne Airport. I spent two hours last night surfing this LIFE archive and there are some incredible photos.

Does anybody know who this is? It looks like it is at Irwindale and it has Courtesy Chevrolet signage on the grill shell.
