  3. I don't have a Schwinn because the one I wanted to buy brand new can only be bought in the US, so I went with a GT Woodside. I do still want to get the US model one day.

    Nice bikes you have there.

  8. I had a Sears Gremlin as a kid, if somebody has one they would like to part with or runs across a decent one, contact me... Mine had the black and lime green seat, and the little slip cover over the sissy bar and was single speed.

Schwinns <3 there are quite a few people on here that i know collect and there are alot of swap meets where you can find decently priced schwinns and sometimes even at yard sales . i was lucky someone made me a custom show bike for christmas one year a scwhinn stingray still trying to work the kinks out of it hahaha not that easy to ride need to move the seat back so i have pedel room but i take it out and about

and then one day i spoted a balloon tire bike at a yard sale . stoped on over it was the guy up to road from me . 15 bucks i took it home .. looked into it found out it was a 1949 schiwnn . i have been working on that it rides like a dream i want to "restore" it a little bit . i ride that bike all the time

One nice thing about having a variety of old cars is that people offer to sell you their old things. A man at work offered me "an old thing with wheels" which turned out to be a 1966 Schwinn Fastback 5 speed. He's bought it new for his daughter and it had been in his garage behind some stuff for 40 years. The thing had the original tires. All I've done is clean it up, replace the grease and tires and ride the thing! These bikes are great.

That's a great book! I got one on fleabay, but I refused to pay those prices. I just kept bidding on them 'til I finally got one for $25.00! Ya just gotta be patient.

How about an OT post in an OT thread? I just picked this one up. A little outside my interest zone but still too hard to find to pass up. (yes, I know the fender is on backwards)

I've always wondered the same thing, I have seen them for as much as $200:eek:. I bought mine new at Barnes and Noble a while back, it was around $13.

Well, I got my boy a bike. Arkiehotrods turned me on to his son who had it. I plan on changing a few things and cleaning it up, but it's going to really make his Christmas extra special.

It's an April 1969 model. Thanks!

I have a few too. I got a 1969 stingray campus green originally but I'm redoing it in red, a blue repro from last year, a AMX copy of a stingray in gold, a 24" schwinn that I turned into a trike lowrider, and my new project a 67 stingray midget.

Well, here's the finish product. I spent the better part of the day taking things apart and cleaning, tightening things and straightening things up.

I can not wait to see the look on his face December 25th.
