My buddy gives me a call a couple months ago and tells me about an old Ford sitting in grandmas house..he was told they think its a 63 4 door Galaxie..noone in the family knew exactly what it was..(not car people)

I tell him he should go pick it up and at least find out what it is and maybe save it..maybe its a 2 door?? Worth a shot right?

He forgets about it for awhile and then last week calls me again..this time he is standing in grandmas garage with the car in front of him..I tell him to start talkin..

He starts out by saying the owners manual says its a 61 Ford...
It IS a 2 door and has a bubble type roof and says Starliner on the front fender....It is black with black and white interior and the odometer say 14040 miles...

I immediately tell him to let the family know he will be hauling it out of the garage to fix her up asap....

We went today to help him get it out and haul it to his house...This is the first time I am seeing the car..I'll be damned if it isnt a real 14k mile all original never painted, never restored..sitting since about 1974 Starliner..
    292 auto car...
The car needs a good cleaning but the body is straight and the trim is xlnt. interior is really nice. Still has www tires..

My buddy plans to get her running again and keep the car in the family..My old man and I were wishing it was ours.

The car sat in a garage in So. Cal for that long and myself and my old man drove by this house alot over the years and never knew what was hidden in the one car garage.....

Stuff is still out there hiding and people dont know what they have.

Just a fun story about a cool car no longer in hiding:)

Nice! I always investigate the maybes, thats where good deals can be found! I love road testing trucks at work because I get lost on back roads and in neighborhoods looking for a junker sitting beside someones house. I look off to the sides more than I look at the road and one day I'm gonna pay for it.

When my father p***ed away, I gave a friend of mine a drill press that my father had. I've know this guy for 10 years. I delivered the drill press to his house, which has a 3 car garage. As we were putting the drill press in the garage, I noticed a car, covered with a car cover in the 3rd bay. It was the unmistakable outline of a corvette. I said wow, that's a corvette! He pulls the cover off and I say WOW, that's a '63 split window corvette. I ask when he bought it. He said he bought it brand new.

Turns out, a friend of his was the gardener for the owner of a local chevy dealer. My friend wanted a '63 Impala with a 409 and 4 speed. His friend introduced him to the dealership owner. The owner said he could have any car for $3500. He went to the dealer the next day and they said they would have to order the car. They told him if he ever thought about a corvette and offered him a test drive. 327 with a 4 speed. He bought the corvette. It now has 125K but he only uses it to run to the store.

  28. Yes Jim, but they,re all spoken for. I did find a 1928 BMW DIXI about 25 years ago but that was a basket case. ( Only type of car i manage to find actually ) Basket case that is, not BMW. Best i ever found and bought was a '34 Delahaye, a '30 Amilcar and a few '32 Fords. Once again basket cases.

  29. I drove a customer home one day and he asked if i,d like to see what was in his garage...turned out it was his dads 33 Dodge sedan. This guy was in his sixties. The car was just like new and I imagine it,s still there.Another customer told me he still had his first car in his garage at home,a big block 69 Camaro.Cars are everywhere you would least expect...

  30. Do something like that and garage finds will be worse then what BJ did to VT.
