Hey guys that is my old truck that I owned for 3 years as a daily driver. The photo was taken a couple years ago at the race shop one weekend and pictures were in Sports Truck Magazine - November 2006. I know the bed looks weird but that is the way it came. Thanks for posting the picture - it was a really cool truck.

  3. What truck? Personally I'm loving that "suspension".

    The bed looks pre-61.

Actually that bed was a carry over from 60 to 61... same bed from 57-61.

The unibody was going to be Ford's only styleside after '61, but too many people requested a standard separated cab/bed setup. Ford installed flareside or the surplus '60 styleside beds on their cab and chassis trucks for those customers. Trucks were just trucks to most people in those days, function before form.

actually that's a 63 truck if the front end is original. they had those beds on there until 63. 64 they went to the bed that flowed with the body lines. i have a 62 with that bed. done all the history. and those trucks are more rare than unibodies from looking at the production numbers. those trucks were for work because if you had load in a unibody, the doors won't open or close.

What production numbers do you have and what source? I am constantly looking for them, and can rarely find any info even on the uni to cab/chassis ratio. I have a '62 flareside and it seems the '62 swb cab and chassis was relatively rare, it seems more so with the flareside.

    Yeppers!
An old friend had a '64 and the bed "fit" his truck.
He got it after seeing one in a Chicago video.

...last year for the straight axle.

The way I understood it, it had more to do with the doors poppin open on the uni's when you put too much weight in it. They didn't have another styleside bed so they used the old one until they could design one and make the tooling.

This is a truck that my buddy nick used to own. We built it in about 8-9 months on a very tight budget. The truck was built a couple of years ago and has since been sold. It is a 63 ford and it still has it's 292 y-block, mustang-2 front, four link rear, z'ed in the front. Everything has been shaved. This is a very simple truck no extra's. For more pics check out my website. Thanks, Jon.

Thanks for the compliments, the truck is sitting on a narrowed 1980 Cadillac frame with a 472, and the bed is handmade, it originally came with the 57-60 style box from factory.
